Moose
This morning on my way in, I was dropping my 17 year old off at the High School. The principal, (woman), drove her corvette up on the walk way to the front doors to avoid getting wet. I couldn't believe it! She's definitley not from around here. My 8 year old daughter walked to the school bus stop with just a windbreaker on, no hood. Who does she think she is, and what kind of message is she sending to these kids? Should Principals be able to break the rules, and get special treatment? What would she do if any of the High School kids did that with their $300.00 farm truck? This is a very small town, and you have to be tight with the administration to matter. Your thoughts?
IhavenoFREAKINclue
Seems like she thinks b/c shes the principal, she can get away with snooty gestures. If she's not from around there then her behavior is seen as odd by everyone else. So she looks like an a**hole doing these things. I just can't stand when people try to flaunt it! A little rain is NOT going to kill you! Is she new to the school? I think someone needs to teach her a little manners.
Author Moose
This is the first year I've even heard of her. I met her when having a meeting about my son's bus problems. She seems very snooty.
Bronzepen
It's good to be the king. In this case, the queen. When you say she drove up on the walk way to avoid getting wet. Who drove her car off the walkway? Does she have valet?? I would ask her if this is a new school policy and if anyone can do it. If not then why?

Oh how nice. While the crossing guard is parking her car, a kid is now in danger of being hit by a car. I would definitely raise an issue with this. No one's car comes before the kids. Mr Spock
If it's highschool, and they're walking out onto the road without looking both ways, then it's almost a Darwinian kindness to remove them from the genepool. I've seen highschools next to highways that have yet to lose a kid. Step back, and examine if you would be as p*ssed off if she DID drive a 300 dollar farm truck up to the walk because she forgot an umbrella. Did she give you the finger as she drove up, yelling "F*ck YOU, small town honkey losers!!!!!" If it's the city versus town thing, simply call the office and ask her not to park on the walkway. She may be clueless, and because she is an outsider needs to be given the benefit of the doubt in this case. Do not let your personal bias against this woman taint your dealings with her, your children could suffer as a result.

I've seen highschools next to highways that have yet to lose a kid.Maybe you missed it Mr Spock. The ELEMENTARY School crossing guard was nearby to open her door.....what does that tell you....the Elementary School connects to the High School, also, she wasn't driving on the road....she drove UP onto the WALK WAY........I don't care if she's in a $300.00 farm truck or not......had anyone else done that there would be immediate reprocussions. She may be clueless, and because she is an outsider needs to be given the benefit of the doubt in this case. Give me a friggin' break!!!! She drove up over the curb, onto the walkway, when she got out her front bumber was 2 inches away from the friggin' glass doors! The cross guard had to back up in order for her to open it! This is not Beverly Hills. Do not let your personal bias against this woman taint your dealings with her, your children could suffer as a result. This has nothing to do with my bias feelings about her. I'd be pissed had anyone done this, and shocked that they wouldn't get into trouble either by the administration or the police themselves. It was a show of her possesions and prestige if you want to call it that, and even I found it repulsive.
RecordProducer
Well, I think it wouldn't be right for the principal to get...ummm...WET!
Mr Spock
This is not Beverly Hills. Maybe you missed it. I'm not stating driving her car on the sidewalk is the correct action. I'm stating she very well may not be aware of how inappropriate it was the Elementary School connects to the High School, also, she wasn't driving on the road....she drove UP onto the WALK WAY........I Again, small town. If you're so outraged over it, deal with it without dropping in statements like "This is not Beverly Hills" Or you will seem like a ignorant hick and make her miss your point entirely. Do you want to let her know that you think she's an uppity b*tch, or do you want her to stop driving on the sidewalks? Your choice.
Author Moose
Maybe you missed it. I'm not stating driving her car on the sidewalk is the correct action. I'm stating she very well may not be aware of how inappropriate it wasI understand now. The thing is though, that it's a clear sidewalk.....although it's wide enough for a car to drive on, it was made as a walk way. For her not to know that cars aren't allowed on there, she would have to be incredibily stupid.Again, small town. If you're so outraged over it, deal with it without dropping in statements like "This is not Beverly Hills"I can see your point on this one. I agree.
fyrwyfe
Make an anonymous call and drop the bomb. This is what I would do, in fact, other parents may have already made such calls. The more complaints, the better chance of this issue being taken seriously. She is definately sending the wrong message to those kids - 'I am the high & mighty principle, therefore I can do whatever I please...' AND as a principle she better not be SO stupid as not to understand that walkways aren't to be driven on...

This is probably the most important point about the whole matter. The principal is an educator first and foremost....and she's setting a rather poor example in appropriate adherance to rules and procedure.
Mr Spock
Regardless, dropping statements like that will cause her to discount anything a person has to say about the matter. Like I said, you can get her to start setting a better example or you can let her know just exactly what kind of a person you think she is.
