DatingDirection
My eating habits are all over the place. For example, for 2 weeks, I can prep my meals, eat clean, eat 4-5 small meals throughout the day, and at the end of the two weeks, loose 1lb. Then, life gets' in the way, im out the door by 8am, in a rush, with no snacks, and hours could go by before I eat anything. Then I will make sure to have a salad, with a protein in it, fish, or chicken. For example, this morning I was out the door early, and I had a bagle with cheddar cheese 1 slice, at 10:30 am. My next meal was a 4pm, a kale salad, with tuna, olive oil (home made dressing). I haven't eaten anything since, 4pm. I am not hungry, and im a bit stressed, so I dont' feel like eating. I've been going about this way for over a year now, and no progress. I have no idea what to do, what is going on that im not loosing weight, just staying the same weight. Any suggestions, on lifestyle change please? Could it be my body, something wrong?
amaysngrace
Why don't you go to the doctor and tell them your concerns and let them order up some bloodwork? That's what people generally do.
Author DatingDirection
Why don't you go to the doctor and tell them your concerns and let them order up some bloodwork? That's what people generally do. Because doctors these days are very stupid! 4 years ago I was in the hospital, they did many tests on me, and the only smart doctor said, my thyroid is a bit low...since then I've had blood work done, and the doctor said im fine. Another doctor just poked around my neck, and said you're thyroid is fine. Do thyroid med's help with weightloss?
cerridwen
Do thyroid med's help with weightloss? Thyroid medication helps with thyroid issues; weight loss can be a byproduct but it's not guaranteed. Try going to an endocrinologist, if you have only visited a GP. He or she should be more knowledgeable and willing to run more specific tests.

Sometimes you think it's not a lot, but it's actually more than you think. Without knowing your "calories in" and "calories" out, it's difficult to speculate on why you aren't making any progress in losing weight.
Filling your GAP
I am SOOOOO with you!! I am a mid-forties female, and have struggled with the same thing for years....UNTIL I started prepping all of my meals for the week on Sunday....now I have these SUPER-awesome, super-portable meals in a mason jar...they are various salads loaded with everything I need, plus smaller jars with parfaits, etc and even my protein shakes and smoothies (possibly minus an ingredient or two that I add just prior to drinking) and my stress is much lower, my diet is right on track, and I feel amazing!! For the dinners, I prep the veggies, salads (yes, more salads) and the proteins as much as possible, put it all in plastic containers in the fridge and freezer, and each one is even labeled for the day to be consumed...voila...dinner is ready and served for my family of 3 within 30 minutes, even on soccer days!! Making sure you get to the gym is PARAMOUNT...the energy you gain from the workouts is necessary to life!! Don't let yourself fall into the vicious cycle of, "im too tired to workout, I have no energy because I didn't workout" crazy eight! I hope this helps! Wow, labelling the meals, so I know what to eat which day, that is a great idea! Thank you so much for the tips. Yes being organised and planning meals is key. I just need to get into a routine and stick to it, no matter what!!! Sometimes, I get side tracked, I have an early meeting (no breakfast) or I have laundry and cleaning to do, and I forget to eat, and plan my meals. I need to assess what has to be #1 for me in my life, no matter what, write it down, and plan everything around that. Thanks for the inspiration everyone!
Ninjainpajamas
If you're only losing a pound every two weeks then honestly it doesn't sound like your diet is very clean. Cheese is high in calories and bagles are too and not necessarily great nutritional value as most breads aren't fantastic in the diet department. Have you tried maybe a protein yogurt, bananas or other fruits on the go? yogurts and similar dairy products can be high in protein and quit low in calories and not leaving you starving minutes later. If you're going to eat something, make it something that will help you get fuller...basically with carbs, sweet potatoes, or wheat pastas with whatever you're eating, like with chicken or meats. I eat eggs but mostly for working out, but eggs are good protein and if you need energy for a few hours they will hold you much longer than a bowl of cereal or slice of bread. On the go eating is generally just not good for dieting...fast food, quick bites are generally just going to set you back. If it's quick and not prepared, then it's likely bad for you unless it's fresh unfortunately. You already know that, but you've got to plan ahead of time...it's a chore now but you'll actually miss it once you start doing it as a routine and then don't have your food with you. Furthermore portion size is a huge factor...I'm 6'1 and 205 pounds with a more natural muscular body/frame than most guys and yet I bet you I eat less than a lot of women and other men...and I am moving around all day, walking, using public transportation and go to the gym 4 days a week with no cardio at the moment but really intense/heavy workouts, and I probably still with all that energy being burnt still eat less than many many people. But after a knee injury and surgery, I gained quite a bit of weight...about 30 pounds or so, I lost about 15 of it through diet alone while not even being able to move around a lot yet so I couldn't run or walk much, and then rest with just weight lifting at the gym. I worked my way up and my knees back into shape by walking longer and longer, and then going up stairs/steps to places. I also significantly cleaned up my diet...it was time. After years of spot dieting and trying to lose pounds on a rollercoaster I finally started cooking my own food (I hate to cook) and keeping track of everything, at first it was a huge chore but once I started learning and finding found good replacements for the things I used to eat, it got easier and I was able to more easily track the things I ate without having to use some kind of fitness app. I don't eat fast-food often anymore at all, but when I do it actually makes me feel sick now...sodas are another huge calorie chunk if you drink those. But I still eat donuts, pizzas (I love pizza), and other sweets often if I need the sugar and my weight does not fluctuate...but I'm moving around too and have pretty intense workouts, otherwise I'd probably have lost another 5 to 10 pounds just on that alone. It's all about choices and what you are doing to counter the fatty/sugary foods that you are eating...if you don't have an activity that cancels that out then it's going to put you over the calorie intake limit and that means gained weight. More calories equals more weight, no matter what eat. Without at least some kind of regiment and tracking of calories, you're almost guaranteed not to lose weight. You can try fad diets or spot dieting but it'll never hold, you've got to be prepared to take control of your diet and really be serious about it. Otherwise this is just going to be the way it's going to be, you cannot lose weight while being on the run and just trying to keep track mentally what you eat....that doesn't work unless you've got a really good handle on how your body works and what the calories is that you are putting in. If you want to lose even more weight, you've got to be active as well...it'll also speed up the process by and large. Also if you are stressed and depressed, and not eating, then you're likely to go through binging cycles or eat very poorly...it's like those two things go hand and hand. You've got to always eat on somewhat of a schedule, even if you don't feel hungry...trust me, your body does not run off air, and if you put your body through crazy cycles you can't blame it for being confused and acting erratic, you've got to teach it what you want it to do and it will follow your lead...it just takes an adjustment period, but your body can and will adapt. Without resolving all these normal factors/issues, I don't know why people try to claim thyroid disease or some other crap.
