Croup

My little guy (4) went to the hospital a couple of nights ago by way of ambulance. He woke up at 1am barking cough, unable to speak and labored breathing that just seemed to get worse.

I called 911.

They gave him steroids at the Children's hospital. Before the episode, no symptoms. Nothing.

Since the episode, persistent cough and some wheezing. I take him outside in the cold air, doesn't seem to help. I do the steamy shower trick, doesn't seem to help. He won't eat honey. He won't drink tea or anything warm.

He's seeing the doctor tomorrow, but I'm stressing about tonight. It's been a rough day.

He had the flu a month ago and never seemed to recover fully. I'm wondering if they are related incidents.

Mothers? Fathers? Thoughts?

Sorry I missed this. Hate to see threads go totally unanswered.

How is your son doing now? What did the Dr say?

Must have been very scary to have to call 911 and see your son so sick.

Thanks. It was terrifying.

In the middle of a snow storm to boot, so felt like forever for the rescue to get here.

He's on the mend. Using an inhaler. They gave him steroids.

I've just never seen anything like that so out of the blue. From normal to can't talk and breathe.

I put his bed in my room for the week to keep an eye on him. We did lots of steamy showers and walks in the cold before bed.

I think we are good. Ty;)
