suegail
One thing that i've found really helps your hair is fish. Oily fish like tuna and salmon. About twice a week eat a serving and you'll be surprised by how much nicer and softer your hair is.
AliceW
I've heard that Frizz Ease is actually bad for your hair if you use it regularly for too long. I have the same type of hair...sort of wavy and FRIZZY if not styled...and it has looked the best it ever has since I discovered the styling products this company called Ouidad makes. (they specialize in curly/frizzy hair). I use their mositurizing shampoo and conditioner, and they have a gel called Climate Control that is the best stuff EVER...it keeps my hair from getting frizzy no matter how humid it is! (I know I sound like a commercial, but I really do love the stuff and recommend it highly!)
jacquelyn
EVERY HAIRDRESSER of mine has told me to stop washing my hair daily. You're suppose to wash it AT MOST every other day. Skipping 2 days is even better. I've used Pantene deep conditioning treatment before, leaving it on for 20 mins instead of 2 mins like instructed and it did wonders for my hair. I can't stand a day without washing my hair. It gets oily too quickly.
ashley83
oh my goodness EC me and you look a lot alike. Anyway, I have naturally very wavy hair and straighten it. To keep it moisturized I use Jojoba oil....i got it at the health food store, and honestly I have tried sooooooooooooo many products and its the only thing that keeps my hair trully moisturized. I would suggest putting some all over your hair ....leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash out. I actually put a little (very little cuz its rich) on after shampoo and condition and it really really helps and my hair is in sooo much better condition because of it. I'm biracial, so I know what I'm talkin about when I speak of unrully hair.
freebird
EC - I have had every hair problem in the world - starting from over coloring, highlighting using, <gasp> SUN-IN, not sure if anybody remember that bottle of hair killer - but yeah, that was like putting on pure peroxide then I'd sit for hours in the sun waiting for the sun to naturally lighten my hair with sun-in! please!! the things we do for beauty! Well, the one thing I don't do now is Sun-In and sitting in the sun. I also got a really good hairstylist/colorist. There are a few good hair products out there and here's a HUGE secret that all the ladies should know about - it's called THERAPRO! It's sold in specialty salons or on the Internet. What this MIRACLE shampoo does is it cleans out the DHT in your hair follicles. Everybody has DHT buildup - which is why hair either falls out, thins, or just stops growing! All of the above was happening to me until my new stylist told me about THERAPRO - men can use it too. There is a shampoo, a conditioner and all sorts of scalp treatments by this line but I would recommend the shampoo for women I think it's called W Distinctively FeminePhytoflavone shampoo - it works! My results have been that my hair grows like 2 inches a month sometimes more!! They also have shampoo for colored hair - I use that too. Ever since I started this new line - my hair is so damn thick when I wash it - it literally goes "thunk" on my back and it's longer than ever. Also, a good coloring line is Scruples or Schwartzkopf - either of those will not damage your hair because it doesnt use high level bleaching. I hope I did not ramble - but it really helped me to maintain long, thick golden blonde hair (with the help of my colorist!) for years! Your hair will not dry out, frizz or freak out as much because you will be growing thicker, healthier hair since getting rid of DHT extends the diameter of your hair follicle! Also use a ceramic plated straightener! Okay - that's it!
freebird
I only wash my hair every 2 days sometimes 3. Of course if i'm working out every day I work out! I just don't put a lot of product in it either. Try wearing your hair up in like a clip or chignon. Also, one other MIRACLE products is Biosilk and if you can FIND this, Oscar Blandi Jasmine hair oil - omg!! that stuff smells unreal and it works like a charm. I think they only place you can get it is Sephora.
passinthru
Hey EC, I have the same kind of hair. It's disastorous if I do nothing to it! It's like I was almost born with curly hair but not quite. I've experimented A LOT! Here are the best products I've come across in countering frizzy/dry hair: -Finesse Moisturizing Mousse...I use a generous amount in my hair when still wet, scrunch it a little and let it air dry. Takes a bit longer to dry but I get nice soft and defined curls. My sister and I swear by it. -John Freida Brillant Brunette moisturizing shampoo/conditioner....great if you can't afford expensive salon stuff. Smells really good. (My stylist said Pantene and VO5 are really bad for your hair in the long run because they just coat it with glycerin/wax!) Once in awhile I alternate with Thermasilk moisturizing shampoo/conditioner. -Rusk Deepshine Phyto-Marine Lusterizer...My one must have salon indulgence! I always use this when I go straight or sometimes when I stay curly and it's really humid out. It smells really good. It's $13 a tube but it lasts for a while and I have a lot of hair. Love it! (I've used Frizz Ease before too. It's not bad but if you put too much in it can make hair greasy, which this stuff will not do. ) Lastly, the number one thing I've heard from stylists is that I should definitely put something in my hair right before I straighten to protect it. Often I use the Rusk stuff 'cause I love the smell but I also have this spray that's easier to use when straightening called Sebastian Shaper Iron Works Hot Tool Protecting Spray. I wash my hair everyday...I think you can get away with that if you use enough moisturizing products. I never blow dry...I guess I don't have the right blow drying tools because it always comes out way too frizzy! My stylist also recommended once in awhile saturating dry hair with conditioner, wrapping it up in a towel or saran wrap and leaving it on for an hour or two. I have yet to try this. Where can I find these two products????
passinthru
I've seen them in not all but most hair salons in my area. Search for "Rusk" or "Sebastian" to find their Web sites...they have store locators where you can just put in your zip code and it will bring up a listing of locations where you can buy the products.
