Moving on after separation

Ok my wife and I are separating within the next month or so. I'm moving out and it's what she wants as she hasn't been happy for a long while now and it's just not worth my time trying to fix this when her mind is made up. So anyway I don't make the most money in the world and while I can live comfortably on my own I still need a cheap but decent place to stay. A friend of mine his parents own a small two bedroom trailer in good condition in a small yard with a small shed that they are looking for someone single to rent. It's 15 minutes from my work and about 20-25 minutes from where I live now. Rent would be really cheap about $300-350 a month and I would save about $500 a month living there without my wife on my work insurance, paying for her phone, cheaper rent and switching from costly cable to satellite etc. Right now we live in a small two bedroom apartment with her three young daughters and I pay $550 a month just for rent. I would be moving to another town more in the country into a trailer which I've never lived in one before. Would this be a good idea if i can get it? if I stay around where I am now I'm looking at a one bedroom apartment for at least $500 but a bit closer to work and the gym and where I'm familiar with.

If you will be near enough to see your children often and the place is decent enough to have them stay over...you might as well try it out, if they will give you a short lease, i.e six months or so to start. You will need to save money wherever you can. Just make sure who pays for repairs, etc...costs that apartments would pick up generally. Also find out about cost of utilities.

I recently moved out, leaving my husband in our house until he can get it ready to sell. I am renting a small apartment, which just fits my budget, but find I really need to stick to my budget. No need to spend extra on rent, if you can avoid it, as long as the place suits your needs.

The people renting it are repairing a couple things before it's ready. I make $2400 a month and $300-350 for rent is the cheapest I'll find around here. I don't mind doing my own repairs and my dad is really good at that too and enjoys doing that stuff. Her kids wouldn't be seeing me as they aren't mine though I'd be only 20 minutes from them where we live now.

I'm in South Louisiana where small towns are one after the other it's not like I'm really moving far away but far enough where I wouldn't have to drive around where I live now reminding me of my wife I love you know. Utilities wouldn't be much for just me and my little dog, it's possible some of that is included in the rent cause the owner owns the land and it's next to another trailer next to their house. I will get to see it and talk to them this week or next weekend then I can know how it's all set up and costs of everything and try to get an answer if I can definitely have it so I can know what I'll be spending to move in or look for something else.

2.50 a gallon

In ten days spring will be here. i.e.: summer is coming. I once lived in a trailer in the desert. My advice is to make sure you can keep cool in the hot days that will soon be here.

it sounds like a good idea to get it since its cheap and im guessing there wont be along term lease involved. While the dust settles you can hopefully save a little bit of money and live comfortably (money wise) while you plan your next move.

Just a word of warning, if your own rent is very low it might give your wife a bigger alimony claim. Your income, outgoings and disposable income are one of the factors they consider: ie. ability to pay. Obviously this will be taken into account along with all the other financial facts and figures. But it's worth thinking about.

I'm not saying you should artificially inflate your living expenses to reduce alimony, no not at all! Just that (temporarily) living below your means can make it look as though you have more available cash. If your rent then goes up as you move into a better place, it could be costly to alter the alimony order.

My wife says she does not want alimony. She wants to keep it civil between us and have an easy divorce. She is scared I'm going to keep half of the income taxes coming in that we agreed on splitting and that I will stop paying rent here. Even saying I thought about taking the money I use to pay rent here and moving out earlier freaked her out to where she had to run take her anxiety meds. If I leave now before taxes come in about 4 weeks I would stop paying rent here and she doesn't want that all of a sudden when for a while now she's been wanting me to leave right away. The thing is I owe a month of past rent I will pay off with taxes and she thinks I would screw her on that and since she wasn't working then it's not on her to at all to pay but I didn't work for a couple months when I fell behind on rent and she was living here too. I'm not sure I won't need to keep that back rent I owe for when I move so I may need to keep it.

screwed me by giving up on our marriage and not wanting me yet seems to think I should be mature and civil and friendly towards her and give her what she wants while she could care less about me or my feelings. Most guys would have left the moment she said separation and left her with bills rent to pay, and she said this before she even got her fist check from her new job, the first job she had in three years. She even admitted to marrying me cause I could pay the bills. All the anger I want o explode on her I am trying my best not to, and when it comes time to move out I will give her the tax money we agreed on but I can't promise I'll pay any more rent here and I sure as hell won't be friends with her after. She will see how hard it will be once I'm gone and it won't be my problem anymore. Also she asked me to please keep her on my work insurance until I move cause she's going to the doctor soon. That costs me $80 a week for just her as I get free insurance. Why should I take care of her when she doesn't care for me?

My wife says

What she says is irrelevant. All that matters is what she signs in black and white and has the court seal of approval placed upon it.

I know that. If she tries anything stupid like alimony she's stupid cause it won't happen. We have no kids no property her living expenses aren't getting less worse she works and gets child support and we only been married about 3 years.
