Would I do it, in my marriage.. no need to.. and besides my child is an exact dupe of me... but if I questioned it then yes I would.. in a heartbeat..

For the ancestry DNA kit, your kids would have to fill a test tube with spit. This takes several minutes and is generally funny to kids and therefore memorable. They might repeat the story to your ex, so you may consider whether that would raise a red flag to her. Also, you will need to know, generally speaking, your ex's ancestry, so you can identify that your kids present as a mix of your and her backgrounds, since it's purpose is not to say you are the father, like a DNA kit would, but rather to say their background is 50% this, 20% that, etc.

Yeah, I just wasn't thrilled at the concept of swabbing my kids' cheeks and the resultant conversation (lies). You may be onto something with the sleeping thing.

Do you have a plan for this? I've got older kids, and the relationship and trust are of utmost importance to me. Weigh this aspect carefully. Kids are savvy, and have google.

I liked the previously suggested idea that the swabbing is done for the sake of a "missing child" kit (if I can get some from a local police department) and then I would just do an extra swab for the paternity test. Taking the swab while they are sleeping might even be better. My kids sleep like stones.

Too much drama, I think. They would definitely share with their mother and she'd do the math.
