MGX
Yep...Neither could Marc Anthony...but that didnt stop him from getting it with J-Lo... TFY Haha I was with you up until this point. I don't know anybody aside from JLo that thinks Marc Anthony is physically attractive face-wise. He may have some sort of personal magnetism though. Being rich and famous helps ALOT. Even Biggie Smalls got lots of women that way and he's far from a stud.
organizedchaos
While I agree with you that being fit helps you in most aspects of life...Heck, I have the type of physique, (big, hard powerful) that is the envy of most guys.(Notice I said guys)..Guys at the gym show much respect..So I live it...But I never viewed being fit/built with attracting women...Its just something I like to do and am fortunate enough to be genetically gifted to be good at...Some people like to game, some people bowl or hunt...I like to lift weights and strength train..Simple as that. Women might prefer a built guy over a fat or out of shape guy, but its not a priority...I dont think I am ugly, so thats probably why women generally think I am an attractive guy...The physique is just a bonus, but not a necessity,.. But I disagree with your other comment...There are TONS of ugly, yet well built guys...In fact, Id bet that more than half arent facially attractive..So they know this and compensate by doing something with their life that they can control..Good for them, I suppose.. Just think about it this way... Look at all the mega hot women....Take someone like J-Lo...Incredibly hot...Who does she date? What do they look like?? are they all ripped and jacked?.....nope.. Even the average women...Look at the guys they think are the hottest..Take a guy like Ryan Gosling...He has the type of physique that practically any idiot on the street could obtain by some hard dieting and pushups. He's certianly not in the same league physique wise with Dwayne Johnson, yet you never hear many women going as nuts about him... TFY You cannot include celebrities in to this conversation because fame, fortune and lifestyle will trump everything. ALL I'm saying is that it helps an average struggling dude. I've still yet to see an ugly guy who's got the body of say, Ryan Gosling.

The statement is there are no "ugly" ripped guys. Noone is arguing that there are degrees of hot or that some people are going to find one celebrity hotter than another. The topic is attractiveness vs unattractive. Men in general are not "pretty" and save for a few models and celebrity etc very few men are going to fall into the pretty or the beautiful category. However if a man is lean, has visible muscular development, is well dressed in stylish, well-fitting clothes and is intentionally groomed and styled and does not have any obvious birth defects/disfigurements or deformities, he will not be ugly or unattractive. The physique alone may not make him "hot" per se, but with all those things in place, he will generally be considered an attractive man and will be attractive enough to be able to get a chick as long as he is also somewhat personable and can relate interpersonally with other people. So in essence, with proper diet and exercise, fashionable clothing, grooming and styling, pretty much any man can become visually attractive enough to attract a woman. The rest will lay in his personality and social status and social skills etc.

And that will attract women even if you're not "hot" vs a guy who looks exactly the same without those qualities.
Moy
If Moy's avatar is actually him, I would think that he'd have middle aged women lined up down the street. Yes, my avatar is me (the picture is only a month old, too.) Would you surprised if I told you that I haven't been anywhere near a woman since January 2013 (when me and my ex split) and my experiences with women since then (especially OLD) have destroyed my self-esteem to the point where I no longer consider it worthwhile to even be interested in women in the first place? And I'm not some guy in a midlife crisis, I know that I'm in my early 40s. I aim for women in their mid 30s to late 40s....note the bias towards women older than me!
SJC2008
I shouldn't have to go to the gym to get a chunky girl. One of the main things that discourages me from dating is that more often than not, a cute chunky girl will be with a skinny guy. Women will rationalize this by saying they have the same market value or will use the anomalies they see that are few and far between.

Only the top 20% of men are even deemed dateable at all. I've been banging my head against a brick wall for the past two years, I can only DREAM of having the social life that I had in my 20s, where I can get out and meet/chat to women in real life, both romantically and platonically - because OLD has geniunely left me feeling undateably unattractive. This is why I've now pulled up the drawbridge and began to just spoil myself now!

Whatever it is, I don't buy the 'women aren't as shallow' argument. Men are the pursuers and want sex more yet we're more shallow?
