agnf666
I was on a low carb diet. Not one of the popular ones. My doctor gave it to me. I was allowed to have 40 carbs a day. If your into eatting alot of meat, cheese and eggs. Then it should work. If you drink 64oz. of water a day. That should help you too. I lost about a good 15 lbs. on it befor eI quit. So it took me probably a 2 to 3 weeks to lose it. Just give it a try.
moimeme
Remember your brain works on carbs. 60 grams a day of carbs to run it. Since you're a student, can you afford to shortchange your brain? Why 'diet'? Why not just change your lifestyle. It's actually easier. Start at the market - just say 'no' to buying the really fatty junky things. Just say 'no' to fast food. There are lots of quick things to eat that are healthy. Get yourself a stock of them and eat that stuff.
Author organic chemistry
i dunno where to change my lifestyle anymore...i'm not saying i'm 100% perfect... but i'm ok active already...i play basketball twice a wk, swim once a wk i eat normally...i never binge on anything....maybe i have 4+ drinks on fri night...that's bad but other than that...i watch the calories that i eat...i dun go over servings... i only eat maximum of 1200 calories a day...and i eat fast food...but i stick to less calories choices and i eat less on my other meals.... i dun eat ice cream, i dun drink regular soda, i dun carve for sweets and desserts.... but then i'm just not losing weight...and i'm frustated... i'd be happy if low carb diet is the answer to weight lost
agnf666
You have to becareful of what fast foods you are eatting. Also you should try to drink 64oz. of water a day. Do you drink that much water in a day?
faux
Sixty-four ounces of water per day seems to be quite a lot of water. I am drinking a Full Throttle energy drink right now, and its eight ounce capacity seems a lot to me. I wonder if most people drink as much water as they should each day. I have known those fad diets to work for some people, but I also notice that the low calorie/low carb diet crazes are not always so great. The people I have known who tried these diets gained most of their weight back once they ended the diet. Quitting alcohol for a while, maybe two months, should help you lose some weight. If you find the time to go walking or jogging frequently, that too can help. I have always been told that in order to lose fat, you have to burn fat. In order to burn fat, your body must burn more calories per day than it takes in. Upping your activity level, and maybe ever so slightly decreasing your food intake, might get your body to burn up the fat reserves. Leaving a bit left over from my meals when I feel full and going for walks regularly seemed to work for me. I know that everyone is different, and that every person finds something different that works for him. From what I understand, walking a few nights a week could not hurt in any way. Good luck on losing a few pounds. You can do it
MiChick43
I lost several lbs on low carb. But I didn't do it to extreme. You have to be careful. I have noticed, I work for a Doctor, that many people are having their insulin levels checked. This is not a diabetic check. some people store too much and therefore crave sugars and are unable to drop wt . These people are going on glucophage and dropping weight. I'm going to have my test done tomorrow. I need to drop about 15 lbs.
Author organic chemistry
hey...i thought drinking 64 oz of water a day was crazy...how would drink 8 glasses of water a day...that's too much... At my college...the trend is that a lot of schmates carry sport bottles around...i thought i was cool to follow the trend and bought one long time ago but didn't use it much coz it's too bulky to bring to sch... But now i start to realize the marking on the sport bottle goes up to 32 oz...and i just filled it up every morning and just drink my water out of it...i actually can drink more than 64oz a day...it's amazing and helpful to keep track...all u gotta do is to drink 2 bottles a day... and i think it's a number thing too...8 glasses of water sound like a lot..but 2 bottles dun feel as much i have been in the low carb diet for almost 2 wks...had to break it today coz i ate with friends...and i just had no choice...esp around asian food...carb is the major diet for asian ppl... but i dun feel like i'm losing...the weight is constant...and i dun see the difference at all....feeling discouraged... reservoirdog1
All I know is, I did Atkins about a year and a half ago and it worked like a damn. Lost about 10 lbs in the first 2 weeks ("Induction") and then started gradually re-introducing carbs, and the rate of loss slowed. I've relapsed somewhat, but overall I've been not too bad about keeping it off.
RecordProducer
It's actually 8 glasses (or 2 liters) of liquids, not water. So your coffee, tea, milk, soup, etc. also make the two liters. Water clears the toxins as you urinate more often. You can't be eating fast food and consume only 1,200 kcal a day. Don't read the calories in the fast food stores. They are written with the purpose to confuse you. It's harder for women to lose weight than for men. Things that work for me are: 1. Skip dinner and go to bed hungry 2. Eliminate all the fattening food and eat only cooked chicken, fish, rice, veggies, fruits, milk, yogurt. (nothing fried, no sauces) 3. Eat small portions, put what you're going to it in your plate and don't eat anything else. Drink a lot of water or tea after the meal. Basically, it's when you're starving that your body spends its reserves. If you think you ate just a little, but you don't feel hungry anymore, the truth is most likely that you ate enough and that meal was too much if you want to lose weight.
