Bobbi7
I'm trying to find some hobbies, was wondering what kinds of hobbies people on here have and how often you participate in them.
carhill
Ha, I was watching 'Whatever happened to Baby Jane?' last night and, yup, make-up and make-believe can not only be a hobby but a profession. Seeing what the makeup artists did to Bette Davis and Joan Crawford was pretty amazing. If I had to point to two overriding hobbies, meaning passions that I'll never make a living from, one would be inventing gadgets, meaning taking an idea in my head and flowing it to paper or the computer and then making it real in the shop. Another, one I got started in at a young age, is aviation, everything from air travel to making parts for airplanes to rocket designs. My latest idea is combining glider technology and drone technology for a 'silent' drone, using rocket glide ideas I came up with back in the 1960's. Boring stuff to most folks but as long as I can earn enough money to keep the power on in the shop I won't run out of ideas until I'm dead and friends whom are the recipients of some of my one-off gadgets will have things to remember me by once I'm gone.

Nikki Sahagin
Yes, I'd say so. Make-up, beauty, makeovers - you can do some really transformative stuff with makeup. I love makeup; buying it, wearing it, experimenting with it. I wouldn't call it a hobby though. It's just an interest of mine. As for my hobbies....travel, gym, reading, writing, animals, movies, food (I'm a big foodie!)
Lion Heart
I'm trying to find some hobbies, was wondering what kinds of hobbies people on here have and how often you participate in them. I think make-up is a wonderful hobby to have. I took dance classes for decades and as well as being on stage and performing, my favourite fun was the "make-up lessons", couldn't get enough of those. Later as a part time job I sold make-up in homes and did alot of Wedding make-up on the bride, bridesmaids and others. That was really special. I always thought that offering a make-up service in a Maternity Ward would be a lovely thing to do for new mums. My profession took me elsewhere. Almost 4 months ago I got fake nails on a whim and get these done every 3 weeks. Plus a fake tan etc b4 weekends every few weeks. I'm not gonna go ape but am making myself my new hobby so may try botox etc later in the year. My hobbies are quite seasonal but I'm thinking of getting a new wet suit so I can surf more of the year. So I love surfing. Bought 2 x 2 seater kayaks for our family for Christmas so they've been fun. Swimming laps at the heated indoor pool is fun for us all. Kids just play. Once a week of something watery. Sometimes every day but this plays havoc with my fake tan! Can't have that. Lol. I LOVE travelling to friends farms North and South. Would love to go OS more but 8 family members is pretty exxy! I take leave every 3 months to travel with the kids. We're on the mid North Coast of NSW on holiday now. To help our travel bug addiction me and the kids sell the stuff we no longer need online in a local group. The kids wanted their own flat screen TV over a year ago (and BEFORE the family even had one) so they sold heaps of stuff and bought that plus a high chair for their new nephew plus a DVD player. I could handle Reading self-development books 24/7 I think! It's is a MAJOR hobby but TBH probably an addiction. Lol. Gardening as in growing organic food, we have food growing mental all over our property. I prefer to just harvest to use or freeze then give away excess now. We used to preserve by bottling & dehydrating but not as much time nor need. Sharing the "lerrve" is lovely. Most of the back breaking work was done a number of years ago - MANY of my hours invested. Now we mainly reap the rewards. Ofcourse we are foodies and cook crazy stuff. My H has alot of allergies to food. My DD was vegan and is now vegetarian and I'm on FODMAP so being creative in the kitchen has been a necessity but has also been a hobby too. I've done yoga and meditation off and on for decades but found a wild new yoga, I've never done b4, called "Hot Yoga". I do this once a week with my eldest DD. I'm creating a new yoga and meditation space for myself downstairs and look forward to USING it. When it's Winter and cold at night I love to cross-stitch, do any type of hand sewing, knitting and felting. It's just so creative and so much fun. My elders taught me most of the skills when I was younger but have sought others to teach me newer skills since. For a while there our whole family got into card making regularly. We do this in Winter only now about 1 week per year. We are like a factory! It's nice using them throughout the year. Have fun discovering new hobbies, life can be pretty mundane without them.
