Hi everyone....

Ok, just wondering what's going on here...

My clothes are falling off - a lot - lately and I am wondering if I am losing weight. I mean I won't go on the scale cuz I believe muscle can make you think you are over when in fact you are not.

I mean I look at myself in the shower and think I could lose more weight so, not sure if I got some body image issue?

I mean, over the past like 6 months I increased running distance and swimming laps...I also have done more of the cooking than mum, so maybe that's why I'm getting skinnier?

But then why do I feel like I need to lose more weight?

L

Eh, I'm going on 40 and never been obese or anything. I have gone over like 25 lbs - but you could barely notice cuz I have an hour-glass figure, height, and am big-boned...and, that's when I had to slow down physical activity cuz I was working on my foot drama (and was eating a lot of garbage).

It could just be that you associate your current form with your current dissatisfaction, so you want to change it. It's hard to say whether or not your weight loss is healthy without knowing more specifics. :(

Well, I guess I have two questions....

1-Should I be concerned that I think I need to lose more weight - even though my clothes are falling off?

2-Clothes falling off means I've lost weight, right?

Clothes falling off probably means you lost weight.

If people say you have lost too much weight, then maybe.

I remember when I went from size 40 to size 36, I was surprised, but I still had weight to lose. So it depends.

Yes, and the clothes falling off concerns me cuz much of it is like pants and jeans I barely have a year now - which I bought cuz I wanted something more form-fitting, cuz I wear my clothing baggy/loose....but now the smaller clothes are getting baggy :(

Buy new clothes that fit. I don't get what the big deal is though? You sound almost upset about losing weight.

If you're unhappy in another way, it might be affecting this part of you, as well.

Agreed...

Cuz, I see me focusing on my body - something I have "control" over, and working it to perfection (or into the ground) cuz everything else I have going on in life is out of control..

I have had an increase in "picking" in the past few weeks too....and I pick when stressed.

Either that or someone bigger than you is wearing them without your knowledge. :p I don't really know what you started at and I've never seen you in the shower so I can't say.

I remember you were talking about missing the days you were a killer in the club the other day. It might just be a natural, healthy urge to get back there. And maybe since your close to 40 you feel you have to be in better shape than ever to get that back. The number 40 can mess with womens heads.

From my previous experience when I lost enough weight that my "normal" clothes started falling off and I was swimming in them i bought smaller clothes and that went on and on until I took a picture with a friend at a soccer game and my arm looked like a bone with skin over it. In my mind I still wasn't where I wanted to be as in I was a skinny fat person a really skinny fat person. That picture was a turing point and I started to gain weight. Instead of running as much as i did i changed to lifting weight so the areas I wanted toned and thought that running/cardio would get me there didn't but weights have. I am much healthier now my smallest size was a 00 and I'm now at a size 5 and I feel more comfortable with my body now than i was at a 00.

Clothes fit - loose or tight, is a very good thing to watch vs weight.

And if your a guy who lifts, it you not only deal with waist size - pants - but shirt and jack fit....;)

However many people still are critical of their own bodies or not satisfied. I also think as you hit 40's and above it take more effort to be comfortable with yourself - regardless of weight or clothes fit.

I try (not always succeed) these days to focus more on my functional fitness and energy rather than my appearance.
