preraph
If Jesus acted like Jesus today, a bunch of so called Christians would be telling Jesus, he wasn't acting like Jesus. Jesus got crucified over politics, and throwing a fit in the town square (lack of a better word for it), for over charging in taxes and using his church as something it was not. That's the first line of defense everyone uses. The problem with that, is if we didn't have human appointed judges, murderers would go free, thieves would go free... .our society would be a living Heck. Which is the direction it is headed... You can't be stupid enough to not see the need for judgment? Even if it's human appointed. Don't answer that... Hey, it's your religion, not mine, that teaches in Matthew "Judge not, and ye be not judged." It's a basic tenet of Christianity. Just saying. I'm judgmental, but it's not against my religion to be so.

I will say, though, that you have to read the entire Bible as a whole, and I suggest you start. Anyway, back to the rents. Went to church tonight with my loving mom, and so glad I went, too!!! CPC
You're stating some Old Testament times. If you read the entire Bible, instead of cherry picking from Old VS New, you will get to the part where God says that now all those foods is acceptable to eat. Except rare meat, I'm not sure if he ever made that okay... though, that's gross anyways, so who cares? Also... sexual immorality is held at a higher judgment, than wearing certain clothing or eating certain foods. Just like a thief is supposed to be punished with having to pay back his debt tenfold, a murderer is justified in also death. Each sin is equal in God's eyes, but each sin holds a different kind of judgment. I'll refrain from citing Romans, where they say what they do with fornicators (and homosexuals). And you wonder why millenials can't stand you? many of us do the right thing, work hard, and good citizens, but we can't stand anti gay religious zealots.

kenji_t
I'm a buddhist, but I'm pretty sure your actions are going against everything Jesus has taught his followers.

I will not change my approach. My approach is just fine. And I'm perfectly happy in my situation, as well.
anika99
Off Topic, preraph. I will say, though, that you have to read the entire Bible as a whole, and I suggest you start. Anyway, back to the rents. Went to church tonight with my loving mom, and so glad I went, too!!! Hey I totally get what you mean about people taking certain scriptures of the bible and quoting them out of context. You sound a lot like me when I was a very young adult. I was raised by holy roller Christian fundamentalists and as a young person I adopted their judgemental narrow minded attitudes. Figured I was the authority on morals and God. Now at almost half a century old, having made my own share of mistakes and committing my own share of sins I am much humbler and far less judgemental of other people. My relationship with God is the only one I need to worry about. Everyone is responsible for their own spiritual life. People will be judged by God, not you, and that's good news. Means you don't have to worry about everyone else's sins. It means that you are allowed to accept people for who they are and love them in spite of their short comings. What's the point?

What's the point? Because I can. And I wasn't aware this place is for depressed, lost people only.

It's not my fault everyone derailed the thread. You mean to tell me, expressing strict religious convictions is trolling? Can we bring it back to topic, plz?
