Plastic surgery....Would you?

Would you get plastic surgery to improve something about yourself if you could.

I want somerhing tweaked as maintenance of myself. I'm not trying to look or be different in any way. Just correct something that bothers me.

I don't have a problem with doing it, but I'm concerned others will roll eyes and consider this superficial....although with the intended outcome...nothing will be different, just improved.

If anything, I am concerned about what people where I work will think....If they notice.

Thoughts?

I would never want to do it, but I do believe that people have the right to do whatever they want with their own bodies.

This decision is between you and your medical advisor.

i mean this kindly.... What others think of you, is not your business. What you Know of yourself prevails. hence be confident in your informed medical decision.

yes i had "technically" elective surgery to correct a birth deformity.

Make an informed decision. Be well.

Don't worry about what the people at work think. What you think is so much more important.

Beyond that, I personally have too much anxiety to have elective surgery unless it is medically necessary....so I wouldn't.

If there was something that really bothered me, then I don't really see why not?

We can pretend not to be superficial all we like...as we paint out faces with make up, wear undergarments that suck us in, and trot around in our high heels. Looking good feels nice. Surgery is quite a step and requires careful consideration and research, but if you're unhappy and self-conscious about something, feel that the $$ and risk is worth it, then that's for you to decide and no one else.

If someone is going to judge you for a personal choice you make, let them! That will say a hell of a lot more about them than it will about you.

Unless it's a botched job, no one should notice anyway ;)

I did in my early 20s and don't regret doing it back then. In my late 30s now, nah. I guess I grew out of the vanity, but I'm still thankful for the fruits of my PS when I was younger. ;)

I assume we're talking about folks aren't missing a mammary, or a baby with a hair-lip.

It's a huge red flag, and usually easy to spot. I thank the lucky stars it's so easy to spot and such a red flag that I'll never have to deal with a person who does that cheap **** to themselves. Other than that, whatever, don't do it on my lawn.

With good surgery, people can look better. Would you rather be with someone who is not physically attractive and didn't change it with plastic surgery, or someone who is attractive, and got it through surgery (say they had a huge nose previously)?

It seems to me that most men want to be with someone physically attractive - so if the only way a woman can achieve that is through surgery, then why would that be so frowned upon?

when your baby looks like a duck, after you banged an eagle, you can tell me what's wrong.

I understand. But if that eagle could barely get a date when they were a duck, is it so shallow for them to have the surgery?

I would in a heartbeat if I had the money.

People will talk if you do get it and if you dont.

I can think of things I'd far rather spend my free cash on, but if I had a lot of spare cash to spend then yes, why not? So long as the surgeon was reputable and the operation wasn't a high risk one. I don't think I'd want to make dramatic alterations, though. I wouldn't want to look in the mirror and see a stranger - even a much more attractive stranger. That would be a bit too freaky.

I've had a couple of lumps removed that were only a cosmetic problem - does that count?

If anyone watches Louis Theroux he did an interesting doco on plastic surgery. A lot of the people were clearly unhealthily obsessed, but the interesting thing was that in the end he had a minor liposuction done despite not really wanting to, and, despite himself, he found himself more confident showing his flatter tummy.

I think it's something you should get if you want to, new people that meet you likely won't know the difference.

I would probably have chosen to make some corrections to my nose and maybe get my full hair-line back like if that was some kind of good technology for that. Other than that though, not really.

I'm 34 now though, I can understand doing it maybe when you're younger, but as you get older anyway it's kind of less of a big deal...to me anyway.

Also, it might end up looking a little funny, and also any complications that might come from, it could be a disaster...not sure if it's worth the risk on your face, judging from celebrities, even good plastic surgery can look quite poor.

Not sure if I'd want that kind of look like them in return for an imperfection. I'd say a touch up here and there maybe, but major reconstruction...I think that's going to look quite bad when those people are older, but that's just personal opinion/taste...still up to you.

What I'm considering is lower blepharoplasty.

For those who don't know, an incision is made below the lower lash line, the orbital fat pads of the eyes are redistributed and if needed, a small amount of skin is removed to rid of any eye bags. The recovery period is 10-14 days and consists of possible bruises. It is out patient and done under twilight sedation as opposed to general. Cost about 2.5 to 3k.

I feel I am getting a tired appearance although I don't feel tired and live an active healthy lifestyle. I have thought of this for the past 10 years. Although my friends say "I don't see bags" I do. So, I have made a consult appt with a very reputable or shall I say popular plastic surgeon in my area who is double board certified.

Considering it is surgery, on my face, near my eyes, there is obviously much concern. However I have viewed many pics and wow what a difference it could make.

I basically feel that I have a lot of living to do and want to greet the world with a a refreshed look. I look at it as maintenance....although I know many others see it as strictly vanity and are dead set against it. In fact I have only discussed it with 2 people as I know my supporters will be few.

To each his/her own. If you think the surgery will make you feel better about your appearance and you can afford it, go for it.

I had cosmetic surgery, for health reasons, not vanity, and my only regret is not having done it sooner. The scars faded nicely and anyone who sees them knows me intimately and would never judge, especially knowing the reason why!

Plastic surgery....Would you?

I had a large cyst removed from my head about a decade ago that was pretty knarly, especially considering I'm mostly bald. It was between a marble and golf ball in size. I'm not a vain person but it was bugging my wife at the time so I got it cut off.

I personally wouldn't consider plastic surgery to 'enhance' my appearance but have no problem with it to fix something gone awry like that cyst. Fortunately, no cancer.

I have a couple of family members who've had something done. The other month my cousin got her lips done. I was one of the people who told her not to do it, but after I saw the results, I was like yeah it looks good.

Don't be ashamed to do it. It's no big deal, you do it and you and everyone forgets about it. Life goes on.

There's nothing specific about myself that I'd change. I'd be terrified about the aftermath and what "could" happen. I'm pretty alright with how I look but the one thing I am planning to get done after I turn 30 is to get a breast reduction. Not for looks but for health. I find that they're just getting bigger and bigger and more uncomfortable. There is no weight gain, they just seem to keep growing. Back pains, etc, the whole thing. They balance out my figure nicely and I like them but they've gotta go at some point in the future, especially if I have children.

I will be very attractive WITH a perfect nose.

It'S the ONLY feature that stops me from being pretty And gorgeous to men.

Most women wouldnt want to be me. I have many imperfections. I have imperfections in every single part of my body. But in every single part of my body there's also an aspect I've loved. I dont want to change anything because it wont feel like home.

But maybe its still early to tell. Lets talk again when old age arrives and the skin wont be the same.

If I had the money, I'd be on the operating table right now. I can related to wanting to fix that *one* flaw. :)
