thorin
Just like in the title - what classes should I take to learn how to dance better in clubs? The clubs I go to tend to play dance music mostly, techno, techno-remixed pop music, etc. I've heard the best dance styles for clubbing are modern dance, salsa, bachata...But the opinions are mixed, some say modern dance style's gonna be just a waste of time, the same goes to salsa, and so on. What do you think?
d0nnivain
I think you can just get out there & move without lessons & you will be fine. Assuming you want to dance with a partner & be the best on the floor I'd start with Salsa, maybe learn to mambo

What do you think? As someone who does go to clubs and music venues frequently, let me help you out... #1 Do NOT call all electronic music techno. (cringe) Techno is very specific subset of electronic music that really isn't all that popular. What you probably hear at a club is house or deep house. Once in a while, really fun places might stick some dubstep in. #2 You can either dance or you can't. Almost no one in a club took formal dance lessons. You watch what other people are doing in the club or on YouTube, maybe practice a few moments in front of a mirror at home, then let the music take you... let the moves come from within as you feel the joy of the music. **** And I'm a white guy! (who loves to dance to electronic music)
Tayla
A guy I dated for two years was a gifted musician with two left feet. He and I chose to take dance lessons simply to be more comfortable on the dance floor. We learned freestyle ( which actually has some flexible moves) and line dancing. It was a three month course , twice a week. Both classes taught us how to integrate and discipline ourselves in a motion that met the tempo . Some ppl ( my bf included do not have the "feel" the music vibe. ) He amazed me that once the instructor placed a system to it, he picked it up and did well.
