misspond
This weekend I did something I'd never done before, nothing startling but a step in the right direction hopefully - always got to hold on to hope! Anyway, I joined up and went on a Meet Up at a local pub this Friday. It was not far from my home and as I had plans to meet with friends a couple of hours later for dinner I figured why not? Got to get out there somehow right? There was a good mix of men and women, most in their 20's/30's and a couple of us in our 40's, and I chatted to a couple of both (because strangers are just friends you haven't met yet) before saying goodbye and joining my friends for dinner. After dinner we all went on to a bar and whilst in there bumped into some of the people from the Meet Up. As my friends were leaving I decided to stay and chat with the Meet Up folks and got chatting to one guy who seemed friendly enough. I'm not comfortable with very assertive men, as in super-charged, "Hey! Look at me!" types so this man was cool to talk to as he seemed low-key yet friendly and down to earth and if I'm honest I'm not a super flirty type myself, it's just an art I've never perfected, but I figured if I don't get a little practice in (I'm just trying to get myself acquainted with meeting new people with a view to dating) then it's a wasted opportunity. We chatted about this and that, there was a little light-hearted flirting but nothing overt. Or so I thought..... Because after an hour or so he says, "Well, this has been nice. How about we get a hotel room and have some fun?" Wait, what!?!! I laughed and turned him down and there seemed to be no hard feelings (sorry-not-sorry for the pun ) and we carried on chatting until it was time to leave. Up in the Ladies room I bumped into one of the women I'd been chatting to from the group and told her what had happened. She asked whether I fancied him and was going to do it (she's obviously much more confident about these things than I am!) and I said that whether I fancied him or not I wasn't about to leg it to a hotel with a stranger for sex. And she said, "I'm bi - I'd sh@g you." I politely turned her down too... So yeah, that was an interesting adventure

jen1447
Maybe, but it still has to feel good in a basic validation way. It'll be a good story for a long while at any rate.
