OLD for women (from a dude's perspective)

NO.

A pic is not going to make you look 20 if you are 50, true, but a pic taken well and at the right angle can flatter a person and hide their bad points.

The best looking person can look awful in a series of badly taken pics, so pics are very important.

If a person is not getting good results then a critical review of their pics is not an unreasonable thing to do, surely?

I know for a fact and it's common sense not to take pictures from different angles. I can't stand looking at selfie pics either. 7 pictures of selfies and not one "straight on" photo?

I know my pictures are taken straight in front of me, on a tri-pod, with a 10 second timer for Pete's sake. lol It's not rocket science. So it's not my photos that aren't helping with the responses. They obviously look at the picture go "ew" and move onto the next in a "swipe" fashion.

Pics should be taken at different angles, a straight ahead pic is NOT usually a flattering angle, for most.

Beauty is about symmetry and often only model types can get away with the looking straight ahead frontal shot.

It can look stiff, formal, unrelaxed and forced and a bit like a prison shot.

Well, I have to disagree with you there. So it's only a matter opinion. TO me if it's enough to show me she's not over weight, which usually a waist up photo or perhaps a head to toe photo..that's enough for me to determine if I want to meet up with her.

And angle shot, from above the head, selfie is an unacceptable picture.

Oh and one MORE thing.

Coming with the 'you whiny losers' spiel AGAIN.

If you had actually bothered to read the thread, you would see that I actually have been stating that women get less attention than men might think, especially in the form of legit messages.

And you also conveniently forgot when you had a tough time getting dumped the other week in a thread by your friend and this particular whiny loser told you to 'hang in there'.

Sorry if i offended you. I wasn't calling anyone a loser.

Which women have been explaining for years. There was no need for using a woman's photo without her permission. Women could have, and have, told you this.

You are talking about two different things and two different goals.

You, a man, want to see her body shape. Women should note that a full length pic, from straight on, is preferable to men.

She, a woman, wants to see facial features and perhaps a hint of personality. Men should note that an approachable photo that flatters your facial features is preferable to women.

If you're unattractive facially you can take 100 photos none will make you look good looking..I tried tons of different pics with old none worked.

Then recently my friend took a pic of me to send to his girlfriends friend and she told him she's not attracted to me..I give up

You're rather going off on a tangent there, xxoo.

Going to have to agree to disagree with you there. Women are just as visual as men are these days when it comes to online dating. You don't know this to be likely.

Rejected Rosebud

I just think it's kind of weird to even consider making a thread about what women experience "from a man's perspective" why is it so completely impossible to just ask for women to share their own experiences and LISTEN to what women tell you??? For you OP and quite a few other guys on here I am getting the idea that the reason it is unlikely that you'll get anywhere with women is that you are completely sold on your own wrong preconceived notions about women!!! :):) My advice to you is to just say NO to yourself when you find yourself projecting and conjecturing about what it's like to be women and what we experience and practice listening and relating to different women as individuals that will be a good step in the right direction if you would really like to have more to do with any of us than you do right now!!

Exactly my point, you're face could look like it got hit with a frying pan...if you took such a picture with seriously high rez photos, close ups of the Lord of the Rings Orgre-face....no amount of quality of photos would cause a person to consider, 'Wow, I can actually see the HAIR growing out of his wart! Good thing he put up those great pictures so I can see the intricate craters in his face and how much of an angle his nose is REALLY turning.

Please, there's no convincing me of this...just let the whole "Put up better photos" advice just die.

I'm glad you brought that up because I've actually done just that...I've had a few women state, "Yeah, us women can be wack-a-doo"! They actually criticize their own gender.

I had another female friend tell me, "You just keep meeting/hanging out with flakes."

These women have a self-awareness of their own gender that other women do not have.

Actually, it's only to ensure they aren't fat. If you google "Myspace Angle shots"or something like that, you'll know what I mean. lol.

What sort of nonsense is that?

DUH!!

We women are so thick, we are not aware that some women can be crazy...

WOW! we need a man or a "special" woman to point that out for us.

Going to have to agree to disagree with you there. Women are just as visual as men are these days when it comes to online dating. You don't know this to be likely.

Which is why I translated what a woman wants to see in a photo:

She, a woman, wants to see facial features and perhaps a hint of personality. Men should note that an approachable photo that flatters your facial features is preferable to women.

The straight-on photo, which men may want to see because it proves "not fat", is off-putting to women. As the previous poster said, it looks like a mug shot.

Don't put up the photos you want to see. Put up the photos women want to see.

Have you tried having a female friend take your pic?

As it has been pointed out, many women are experts at taking a flattering photo! We know how to maximize and minimize to the best effect. Why not take advantage of a woman's touch?

OK, we all hear how easy OLD is for women and how hard for men.

I wanted to find out for myself. How easy do women really have it online?

2) Volume of legit messages are not as much as I expected.

The positive is that women don't receive as many legit messages as I thought.

Anyway, something for you dudes to think about.

16 total but still only 1 message with any substance.

Two more since my last post. So 18 total over ~ half a week. Two/three of which were legit, detailed messages.

However, if that number is say 20 over a week, with most of the messages being garbage, your chances with OLD might be better than you originally thought.

Here is my (obvious female-bashing, biased) synopsis of the experiment.

To me, it was slightly encouraging because I discovered that females might not get as many responses as originally I thought. To me, that says my chances might be better.

In a lighthearted thread that had a neutral premise and not a hint of gender bashing or really any confrontation, people still were digging and scratching to stir up sh@t. This place is ALL ABOUT confrontation.

I will say at least Imajerk (a person I consider one who usually bashes) asked me about my Match profile. That was kind of nice.

I'm requesting that this thread be closed and I'm taking a break from LoveShack.

P.S. For those interested in the final tally was 20 messages over approximately 5 days, 3 of which I would consider legitimate.

Experts? That's quite a laughable assumption.

You don't speak for all women's photographic abilities. In fact, it's quite irrelevant the gender.

Also...the notion of pre-fabricated arguments that come WAY out of left field.
