acting the part

Recommended Posts

I often find myself in the friendship-only box. My experience is that once you're in, you'd better ride it out to its long and nasty conclusion.

I'm told that I'm a very deep person, that I have a very interesting view on life and that i'm a "nice" guy [that dreaded word], yet I'm always stuck in FriendLand. I think that part (if not all) of the problem is that I'm way too subtle with my hints and I'm not entirely sure whether or not they know I'm interested (if they are, they choose to ignore it). Part of the reason that I'm so subtle is that I feel like doing all this "no contact" and "be mysterios" bit is a bit... fake. I feel like I'm not myself, and I really hate to put anyone through that. (Yes, I'm old-fashioned. I open the door for them and everything, that's just who I am.) By 'playing mindgames' like that, I feel like I'm acting the part...

I'm a logical person--is there some kind of rationalization I can make to either prove to myself that I'm being honest with the girl, or figure out some more 'honest' method? Any ideas for a more obvious hint?

Yes. Do not give "hints"; hints are not exact. Tell exactly how you feel. If you tell a woman that you find her attractive, and love her personality, and you want to go out on a real date with her, she will probably have trouble "ignoring" that. Be direct and be honest.

haha. Well that's easier said than done. Like paying taxes.

Maybe I just need to sit down with myself and say, "self, either move on or take a risk, don't stay in the same pit."

Is there a way to make that any easier, or do i just have to summon courage from nowhere... SHAZAAM! lol.
