Johnsmith1003 Posted June 10, 2015 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Growing up, my family was not wealthy by any means, in fact we were quite poor but that didn't stop my grandmother (who raised us three as her own) by giving or buying me whatever I pleased. I grew up, in my mid 20s and I definitely am more humbled and helpful than I was but I still find myself always selfish. I complain about my job when I know there are worse out there, I complain of my living situation when there are homeless people and I complain about the lack of social life I have when there are those who have harder ways in dealing with it. Sick and tired of being an immature, selfish brat. It doesn't give me the peace I long for. Link to post Share on other sites

I am sure there is a community in your city where you can help young boys or girls become well rounded adults. You can also try foundations such as those that deal with hunger in the community and feed the less fortunate. A second thing to do would be to keep a journal and see how much self-talk is focused on yourself. Most of the time when we become too into ourselves it is because we are not socialzing enough. Make a friend, join a meetup, and do anything to be amongst others. In addition, being selfish isn't bad...Ayn Rand made a book called 'The Virtue of Selfishness' in which she speaks about Enlightened Selfishness. I highly recommend that.
