What kind of impression does crying and panicking leave on my boyfriends family?

It's kind of embarrassing but whenever I'm facing stress or if I'm yelled at i lose control and start crying and shaking. I just don't handle it well and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. They haven't seen me like that a lot. Only every now and then. Recently my boyfriend and his mom got into an argument over me. I was there and all the screaming made me have an anxiety attack. I had to go outside and get a hold of myself. I don't think it was the fact that they were screaming but because the screaming was over me. My bf was begging his mom to let his dad take me to a job interview but she was against it no matter what. Have you ever been so nervous you can feel and hear your heart pounding and you can't breathe? Yeah that's how i felt for about 20 minutes. Everyone could hear me crying about it and i worry about how it makes them see me.

The impression you created on them & even some of the people reading this post is that you are immature because you can't control your emotions.

 

 

While this last thing was about you in a way, your BF escalated it by yelling. You had other options including trying to defuse the situation or walk away Instead you decompensated. That doesn't say much about your ability to handle the stressors of life.

 

 

For your own successes, you need to develop a thicker skin.

If it were my son you were dating, I wouldn't have a great impression of you being unable to handle your emotions over little things that go wrong. I could only imagine the kind of hell my son would have to deal with if the two of you got into an argument.

I think the permanent solution to your problem is to stop relying on other people and get two jobs and get your own place and learn to take care of yourself. Do whatever you have to to get to an interview Use public transport or walk or ride a bike if you don't have anyone to take you. Once you get a job, move to a place right across the street or as close as possible and save money for transportation. You certainly can't count on boyfriends' parents to make your life easier. Or move in with a girlfriend and work at just any job whatever that is nearby long enough to save up some money for transport and then start looking for better jobs.

 

I'd be crying too in your situation, but not because of what they said. I'd be crying because I let myself get into a situation where I was dependent on other people instead of taking care of myself.
