Charisma
I recently finished up my studies and have been trying for almost a year to find a job in my field of study. I applied for a job with a great small company that I would love to work for. The employer contacted me for an interview and I was delighted to be considered for the position. I was given a date for an interview but the employer changed it on me. Then the new time he gave me didn't work because I didn't have access to my car that week. So we kept e-mailing each other back and forth. He set a time for the phone interview but didn't call me because he was tied up. I suggested a different time because I'm still working somewhere else. I have not heard anything from this employer in a couple of days.....what should I do...should I try to call him since most of our conversation has been through e-mail. Have I completely blown this job opportunity, after all the employer changed my interview time twice, which made it hard for me to fit into my schedule since I was giving up paid work days for it. I know that if you want a job you have to be available on their time but the employer changed the interview on me twice. Help!!!!
ConfusedInOC
As someone who does employment full time: 1) Get reliable transportation, that's what screwed you in the first place. 2) CALL THEM AND RESCHEDULE. By not calling them you are affirming you don't want the job, even if that's not the case.

I was given a date for an interview but the employer changed it on me. Then the new time he gave me didn't work because I didn't have access to my car that week. If he changed the date of the interview, you should have told him it would not work out, then scheduled a time that would be good for you. So we kept e-mailing each other back and forth. He set a time for the phone interview but didn't call me because he was tied up. I suggested a different time because I'm still working somewhere else. I would have phoned HIM five or ten minutes after the scheduled time for the telephone interview. I would have let him know I was very interested. I have not heard anything from this employer in a couple of days.....what should I do...should I try to call him since most of our conversation has been through e-mail. I would have called him from the beginning, or somehow gotten my butt down there as soon as possible for an interview. I find it is always a mistake conducting things like this entirely through e-mail; it is so impersonal. Have I completely blown this job opportunity, after all the employer changed my interview time twice, which made it hard for me to fit into my schedule since I was giving up paid work days for it. Call and find out. I know that if you want a job you have to be available on their time but the employer changed the interview on me twice. Help!!!! If the employer changed your interview time, no doubt he informed you of the changes immediately. I would have told him right away the time would be bad, as I have a committment to my other job, and try to schedule something that would work out for the both of us. Next time, try to avoid the trap that e-mail can bring, and don't worry about making your own telephone calls.
