Has it ever taken anyone many months after a break up to start missing the ex?

My ex met someone else but I don't know if he still with this women since we haven't been in contact.I had a big crush on someone else shortly afterwards but it didn't work out.It turned out that he has a live in gf.My crush left the company now he is gone ,out of the picture.

I haven't dated anyone since. Now 8 months later I find myself starting to miss my ex.I didn't miss him at all in the beginning. All I could think about was my crush and my was not in my mind at all

has that ever happened to you? Where you were so busy, or angry...or even attached with another (distracted).....that it took months for "that feeling" to sink in?

Is it inevitable to feel it? (even if it takes months) or can you bypass it entirely?

We arent robots... we cant "bypass" it. You just need to ride it out and deal with the feelings, so they say.

eye of the storm

Sometimes it isn't the Ex you miss. It is being with someone. Being part of a couple.

But no matter what it is, ride it out. They are Exs for a reason.

Just out of curiosity who dumped who?

We broke up mutually because of the distance. We stayed in contact but he ended up meeting someone else closer.I decided to cut off contact so I can move on myself. We haven't been in contact since.

I am not planning to break NC but I cant help myself to miss him

How far was the distance? Also it's normal to miss your ex, but that raises the question do you miss the person or just having a relationship?

I think many people just suppress while all the time thinking that means coping well. I can tell you that is simple and plain BS. Emotions cannot be bypassed, they stick into your body and can cause other problems when we ignore them for too long.

And no it never happened to me. I did loose a parent in adolescence thought. That death was the end of some horrible years of witnessing despair and pain. For some reason, it all was too much, now I know that it made me dissociate. I had no say in it, it just happened. Everything had lost its meaning and felt emptier than I ever could have imagined. But whenever something emotional happened it triggered those feelings beneath the surface.

Dating someone else is a defence mechanism that allowed you to ignore. You have some work to do.
