Everyone moving on and it hurts

My son came over to visit me. We had a nice afternoon before he headed off again. He told me that my ex is going to sell the house In a year or two. My son informed me that he and my daughter may move on to their own places.

Although this seems like they are growing up and becoming independent, it still just hurts to know that things should not have worked out like this. A broken home, and all four of us going in different directions. What heart ache!

as a person whose lost a lot of loved ones in one year, I know how you feel and it sucks but at least in your case it's a natural occurrence of growing kids and not a fist full of betrayals. look at the "bright" side..

Gotta agree with casey. Your kids would be going their own directions even if you were living a picket-fence-scenario, even if it doesn't feel this way due to circumstances.

Hey Casey.

My story is a full list of betrayal also. Serial cheater with younger coworker. Divorced one year.

I feel like everyone is just drifting and it saddens me so. My kids will look back at our family and remember lots of hurt and lies. They now have a poor opinion about marriage.

I feel like I've failed them.

Hey No Limit. Yes I know.

Divorce is the death of a dream.

I created a life for them that was idyllic in some ways. White picket fence etc. I could just slap myself at how clueless I was.

It just feels like everything is changing and it scares me and saddens.

You didn't fail them - your ex has. And even from a bad experience like this your kids surely have learned something - if anything that they should pick their future partner wisely, and that's definitely an important thing to learn.

Maybe it's time you moved on too. :)
