Hey all,

I have maximum five friends and I am estranged from my family.

My friendships are recent, and although my friends are nice and caring, they have large social networks, and thus cannot dedicate much time to me.

I am really upset. When I feel down and stressed and just want a hug, well I have no one to turn to. Only 2 people occasionally call me to enquire about me. But they lead busy lives, so I cannot just see them when I feel down like this.

I am so upset at this. I don't know how to cope.

Here's a delicious hug!

I'm sorry you feel alone and hurt. What you need is a warm soapy bubble bath, candles & great music/book/TV show. I find when feeling like this its too much to process and you need to shift your mood by loving yourself.

You have a friend here!!

When you feel a Lil better I have a few ideas to help move forward.

Gratitude journal

Local meet up groups

Hobbies

Plans

Trips

But right now, try to shift your mood with loving and caring for yourself.

I've read your other posts, You've had a tough time recently. I'm glad you are free, but sorry you're hurting. Maybe some guidance/professional help will help you move forward. Give you advice, ideas, workbooks.

Thank you so much for your comforting message. Unfortunately, I live in dorms and only have a shower! That's a pity because I want nothing more than buying some bath bombs from Lush and having a nice bubble bath!

I am planning on attending a walking trip in a few days' time, with a local meet up group. I am looking forward to that. But I'm not expecting much. I love people, but it's so hard to become part of someone's close social circle. In fact, I realised that people prefer superficial relations because unlike me, they already have enough friends. I feel like getting slapped on the face each time I try to bond with people. :( I can't believe only two people genuinely care about me in this big world.

Thank you. I'm due to start CBT soon, but I've been put on a waiting list for quite some time now. Self-therapy generally works for me.

Hi, here is another cyber hug. I know where you are at. I am alone as well, skittle by choice and the other because my friends are busy due to married life and kids. I am a people person so it does hurt. I throw myself into my work and taking to my co workers. They could never imagine how lonely I am outside of work. The weekends are horrible. I enjoy my Saturday but Sunday I am ready to return to work! I know I need to take another step to make my life more whole, and to alleviate loneliness. It is tough. But, you are trying. One step at a time - no matter how small. The attempt is half the battle!

I was going to suggest a pet but that won't work in the dorms. Instead, volunteer at an animal shelter. You will get some much needed unconditional love AND a resume booster.

Another hug to you from here :)

I know how you feel.

Basically...what you need to do is...FALL IN LOVE with YOURSELF. Sounds Cliche but its the truth.

Try and find what it is that TRULY makes you...YOU and what makes you HAPPY. And than...go after it and pursue it with all that you got.

After loving yourself and being happy...

People will be naturally drawn to YOU...and from there...you will find that its so SIMPLE...because you don't have to put so much effort into meeting/approaching people...People will approach YOU.

And than before you know it...

You will have MORE FRIENDS than you could ever have IMAGINED.

Some clues/tips:

1. Hobbies

2. Interests

3. Things

Examples from me:

1. Fishing, Snowboarding, Skateboarding, DJing etc.

2. Music, People, Cultures, Travel, Concerts etc.

3. Pet, Food, Cooking, Reading, Meditation, Walks etc.

Hope this helps.
