Rejected Rosebud

Going out?

Well then it's the nicer thrift store t-shirt , decent pair of thrift store jeans, and their one pair of closed toed shoes.

They truly don't give a ****.

Yet, I notice the women they are with look pretty, earthy, healthy, the things you want.

But the VIP room at the club and the bottle service is not even on the outermost edges of their consciousness …

I LOVE having a local girl here!:love:

You're not gonna find him at Wasteland on Haight. He's Ruby Sky. He wants to say he's into the music scene, but what he really means is Bottle Rock and making sure he posts pics on IG of his $16 glass of Cakebread with his whatever shoes in the background.

Style over substance. Like, oh, the guys in the Marina.

I've lived in 3 eastern states, including FL, and had a circle of friends like this in all 3.

Agree.

Where you live now and Florida do have these to a fair degree.

Yeah what? Going to spend a week in a hotel in Morocco going to all the tourist sites?

That's not traveling.

H&M costs less than walmart, oh brilliant one.

Where are you even coming from? No, actually I am going to a wedding in Marrakech since you are interested! :):) One of my friends from school is marrying a girl from there! We are staying in a riad we found on Airb&b, it is a bargain but looks amazing!! After the wedding we are trekking in High Atlas for a week! I'm super excited.

I don't know about Walmart. We just got H&M in the closest big town here, they have some kind of cute stuff but they're well known to employ sweatshop labor so I won't shop there. :( My point was though that I don't think the Prada and the H&M shopper are often the same person!! Or, the walmart shopper either for that matter !! :bunny::bunny:

Nah, I still don't buy it.

There's going to shows, music events, etc., and there's going to "da club" with bottle service. The two are so, so, SOOOOOOOO different. Outside Lands versus Ruby Sky.

We have a different population density and geographic layout than you do.

In New York, there are very few areas or outdoor festivals.

The weather often sucks as well.

So, like Vegas, the best DJs play inside clubs here. Surely you can follow that concept?

You can take a true hippie chick to the big city, and to a fancy dinner. She can clean up and class up (in her own way). She's not a social idiot. But she still isn't going to care about name brands beyond Patagonia and the like. Function first, and only expensive if the function warrants it.

Exactly.

I did it the other way around with the ex wife.

It wasn't as easy. Like that old Simple Life show with Paris Hilton! :lmao:

Ok, so ditch those high tops and get yourself to the nearest co-op. Wear something dirty, and don't shave. Or shower

Epiphany: this is how the colloquialism "let himself go" came about.

^^^^Wow. Maybe I do need to go west.

What's difficult is that I would have to either build a new RV or go via the Panama Canal.

How we have so few people of this type here is perplexing.

Yes come here. Northern Cal and anything north of NorCal would have exactly what you're looking for. (Stay away from Southern Cal).

Have traveled there before and yes, I remember the stark difference between northern and southern California. :D

Those white soles are a bit yikes-ey to me too, but hey I'm behind the times here in the midwest. ;)

Well, just out of curiosity, what do you wear to the tractor and farm supply stores? They are my all time fave shopping spots. I like to go in barefoot. If they complain, I give them 67 cents for a pair of their flip flops.

Then I'm pretty much ready to hit Subway. :)

I'm perplexed as to why you are so surprised that this:

Down to Earth. Minimalist. But with interests in quality foods, growing your own food possibly, travel, maybe homesteading and off grid stuff.

Alternative lifestyles.

is hard to find in NYC.

I mean...living off the grid, homesteading, growing your own food...is pretty much the complete opposite of living in Manhattan. Any woman who wants that sort of lifestyle who is of age to leave her parents' home is going to be off somewhere living that lifestyle, not sticking around the biggest city in the country.

It's been suggested to you before that if you want to attract this kind of woman, you should be living that kind of life. Right now you are not. You are not going to meet that type of woman in a club in Manhattan. (Or odds are you won't. Anything is possible, I suppose. But it's very unlikely.)

From your previous postings, your boat is still in Florida and the engines are not working, so what exactly is keeping you in NYC? You've told us many times that you are your own boss and you aren't tied to anywhere...so why not go live out west or somewhere more rural while you wait for your boat to get fixed? You aren't living on it right now, so I don't really see why you are bringing up the Panama Canal and all that. And why do you have to build a new RV to go out west? Aren't you living in a hotel now? Just do that but out there. If you are a traveler, then go travel.

Yup. All these thoughts have crossed my mind.

I agree.

All very accurate too.

I came here to take a break is all. At the end of the week, I'll be figuring out what's next...

LW you really do need to first figure out what your heart desires more that what you want your heart to desire. I've got a massive amount of issues and need to get into therapy. You might want to consider going as well. Couldn't hurt.

LW sounds like another life transition to me. We all go through those -- whether its work related or relationship related. There's periods of times in our lives where we realize we've outgrown a job, a lifestyle, or a relationship. And, the dissatisfaction of knowing that we've hit a brick wall where one of those is concerned, can become a factor that motivates change in us, or paralyzes us from moving forward because we've grown accustomed to that job, lifestyle, or relationship that is both familiar and an actual road block to our achieving happiness and growth.

You'll be fine.
