Father'sGentleFlower
I am going away to college soon, I had a falling out with my parents, and I just told the guy I'm seeing that we can't be together because my parents have to much control right now. I can't help but feel a lot of loneliness, which makes me cry often and I have trouble sleeping. I'm trying to make things right with my parents, but not being around anyone that is close to me will be hard now. I feel like I need to be hugged every so often at least, however, I'm going to be alone in a dorm most of the time. I do have friends there, but of course, they're always busy. I find that even occupying myself in work doesn't really distract me. How do you deal with bad feelings of loneliness when you have no choice but to be alone? d0nnivain
Just hug your parents. When you get back to school, make a point to spend time with your friends & join activities to fill your day. Ask people to study with you. It's hard for me to understand loneliness at college. I spent 4 years trying to devise ways to be alone for an hour because there were always people around
dragonfire13
Definitely look to do things more socially...meetup.com has been a godsend for me! Whilst I haven't become besties with anyone (yet), I've gone to some cool events and it's refreshing to meet new people. It also keeps you busy, trying new things especially if your friends are too busy. As well as that, I've learnt to enjoy my own company. For example, I always seem to have a more successful shopping trip when I go on my own...I find Im less distracted than when I have company so I can browse the shops properly. I also like to watch movies, read, write in my own leisure time. So while I don't think it's healthy as a constant lifestyle choice, some solitary time does have it's perks
