Should I quit my seasonal job next month?

I'm a substitute teacher, but I took on a seasonal serving job this past summer that leads into part of fall. As a seasonal position, they typically just give you shorter hours during their slower seasons, and you can work throughout the year or most people will just quit in October when the pool at the hotel closes.

I was making more money here up until this past week. Not only that, but my manager distributed a list of requirements mystery shoppers look for. Most of these are time-sensitive i.e. greeting, bringing back drinks within 2 minutes, etc.

However, we are not a fully staffed restaurant. It is basically a lobby with end/coffee tables. I have to do to-go orders, greet, run food, bus tables, etc. When we do get a rush, most guests have to wait since I am the only person on the floor. We can call the managers for help, but it would take them some time to get down to the lobby anyway. I was stressed when I saw the mystery shop list because some of the things seem unrealistic considering we do not have the extra help that the other hotel chains do. We also need to score above a 90 or we have to get a re-audit.

I also really don't like the hours or the service industry in general. Kids are sometimes difficult to teach, but I at least had a steady income and schedule with all holidays and weekends off.

The mystery shopper thing is the reason you want to quit?

I'd stay until it became an issue, at least. Until then, I wouldn't worry about it.

No, I just haven't been making money the past couple of weeks or getting as many hours either. It's hard to teach during the day because elementary schools get out around 3:30 (but sometimes parents are late or I have duty after school), and my other job needs me there by 4:30. So I can't even go back to teaching full-time, unless I ask my serving job to just schedule me Saturdays/Sundays. That would mean I would be working 7 days a week indefinitely though. Plus, most of my work meetings at my seasonal job are during the week. The bartender said it pretty much continues to be slow all throughout the holidays.

You clearly want to quit & you can live off your "real" job so quit. Better that then get fired because you got a bad review from a mystery shopper.
