I am taking a 6 week challenge where I have to lose 20 pounds to get my money back. I know 20 pounds is a lot of weight in 6 weeks to lose, but if I follow their diet and do the circuit training 4x a week, I think I should be able to make the cut.

I'm just happy to be motivated and committed. I am going to balance work with all this too so I'm striving to be a new better me.

Errr, I'm happy you're taking steps to improve yourself, but 20 lbs in 6 weeks, despite being possible, is way too quick. Besides being generally unhealthy, you are going to lose a lot of muscle, and your metabolism is going to be shot to hell, which will make you gain it all back and then some as soon as you quit the program. Fad diets don't work, it's a long-term thing if you want to stay healthy.

Honestly it sounds like you were nabbed by a money scam. How much did you pay???

They got a diet plan which is common sense that I just need to follow, and I'll have to alter my snacking/sleeping/drinking habits.

It's not a scam as it's a proven company and I actually worked out with them this past summer... except I didn't follow their diet so I didn't lose much weight.

But I go to their place, work out 4x a week and follow their diet 24/7. I may not lose 20, I might only end up losing 12 or so, but it's a step in the right direction. Also, it led me to reactivating my FB account because I have to check in. I am hoping to network and maybe make a few friends out of this as well. Expand my horizons. The group has a private group which I'm sure will give me a dozen or more "new FB friends" and possibly a genuine connection or two amongst them. I paid $397 for 6 weeks. But if I drop the 20, I'll earn $397 back.

Even if I fall short, I think it's a worthwhile investment of forcing myself to balance work, working out, eating and living healthier and just being in a healthier spot in life. I'm still young but I'm not getting any younger. This is a calculated risk that I'm aware I may not see a cent back on, but the value itself should be priceless if I follow through. I'll be changed one way or another through these coming six weeks. And I'm investing in that more than anything else.

The problem is that if you DO lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks to 'get your money back' (which is what they are pushing), when you leave the program you are likely going to gain it all back for the reasons I mentioned. You need a diet and exercise regime that is realistic and healthy and that you can stay on for the long term, not a 6-week quickie.

I told you over a year ago: Good, hard and sweaty exercise and a healthy and delicious Mediterranean diet and you'll shed the kgs and feel a tonne better.

Do you live near the ocean? Start surfing and you'll get the best physique you've ever had. Guarantee it.

Forget the quick fixes, fad diets and most of all, deep fried American junk food.

No short cuts work mate.

At the same time who's to say I won't take the diet and make it a lifestyle change? And who's to say I won't still work out on my own and maintain a decent weight level for my height and size?

@ lino, this isn't a short cut. This is the beginning of a new lifestyle of healthy eating + working out consistently. If that doesn't qualify as "hard work" then I don't know what would. It's not a short cut in the least.

By all means make a lifestyle change, just don't do the 20 lbs in 6 weeks thing. Make it slow but steady, aim to lose the 20 lbs in 2-3 months instead. If you lose too much muscle and mess up your BMR too much by losing weight too quickly, it will make it exponentially harder to maintain a healthy weight after that.
