Interested in girl I have no classes with

Hello everyone!

I'm a sophomore in HS, and haven't really been interested in dating for a couple years until now. I used to date a girl, but we broke up and that really set me in a weird trance where I didn't really find anyone attractive and wasn't interested in dating for a long time...up until a couple weeks ago.

There's a freshman girl that I'm really interested in that stands outside waiting for their ride for a while (like me) until there's only like 3-4 people left waiting. I don't have any classes with her, and I really like her personality (she's pretty too). Again, I'm rarely ever interested in relationships. She's fairly introverted and shy, so she doesn't usually talk to anyone after school.

I'd love to go and talk to her, but I don't know if it'd be weird since she has no classes with me, is a grade younger than me, and is also usually listening to music (the leave me alone sign?). I'd love to try and talk to her, but I haven't the faintest how I'd start talking to her (since she has headphones in and I've never talked to her). How should I go about this situation?

wussup! I'm surprised ppl as young as hs students use this board but thats cool! smart too, haha.

ok, if she listens to headphones, the answer is obvious. you ask her what she's listening to! that's always the start. and it's a great start, because that first makes her have to take her headphones off to hear what you are saying. she will most likely not hear you the first time you ask and go "WHAT?"

so you ask again "what are you listening to?"

then she will tell you the song or band. and BAM, there is your first conversation starter. It's a good topic, because EVERYBODY likes music. and she will get to tell you about a band that she likes. go from there. do you like the band that she listens to? if yes, perfect, say "I like them too, have you heard such and such song?, etc."

if you don't like the band or dont know the band, don't say "oh they suck" just be like "oh really, I havent heard much about them, are they cool? what do you like about them?" then you can get her talking about music, again more conversation.

go from there. just let it flow. dont worry about feeling awkward. just be interested in her and find out what she is all about. that's what convos are for :)

umm after some of that talk, then you can introduce yourself, and ask her for her name.

if you can't think of much else, ask her what classes she has, teachers, electives, etc. maybe you have experience with teachers she has from last year, and there you go.

have fun..!

Start small. Say hi a few times. Perhaps add her on social media. Work up to something like will you be at Friday's football game? When you see her there talk to her.
