Eighty_nine
Lots of Christian's in my workplace; I feel like I have to hide that I am not religious. They talk about God around me, but I am sure not to talk about my beliefs around them. And I am so happy, so fulfilled with my life and content in my beliefs. It sucks that to keep the peace, I best not mention it. edit: I hatehatehate being told i need to be 'saved'. this is why i avoid religion talk.
mrldii
Depending on where you work, proselytizing is usually forbidden in the work place. You should check with HR about the matter. At the risk of being labeled 'That Difficult One', I'd be screaming bloody murder if I was barraged with the hourly equivalent of missionaries ringing my doorbell to "share to Word" while sitting at my desk, trying to get work done. Unless, of course, you work for a religious organization...then, I suppose, it's part of the job description and something to be considered before accepting employment. autumnnight
Talking about their own faith, even saying "I'll pray for you" if you have a sick relative, is protected by freedom of speech. Period. However, "witnessing" to you when you clearly do NOT want it and repeatedly telling you you need to be saved may not be. And this method of "winning souls" is clearly not effective and bothers you, so I would say something about it. And I say that as a Christian. Even Christians need to learn to be emotionally intelligent and not harass their coworkers repeatedly. I am sure they would complain if a satanist repeatedly invited them to a.,..whatever satanists have and told them they needed to worship the dark lord (or whatever they say - I have no idea except weirdo Hollywood stuff that is grossly inaccurate I'm sure). The workplace is a GREAT place to LIVE your faith...not such a great venue for a tent revival.
GemmaUK
Ohhh! I am an Atheist and I have had this problem - only with one devout Christian woman at work - the religion was only part of the problem but it may have been where it stemmed from. This lady bombarded me with ultra personal questions over about 2/3 years (she does ask many of the women personal Q's though such as 'are you menopausal?' and 'why did you get divorced?' in front of their whole team!!) She also crashed into another colleagues car and denied it until CCTV came out, then she made a pile of excuses as to why she didn't have the cash to pay for the repairs on time. It was cringeworthy! She told me that I was wrong to dump my abusive man and I should convert from Atheist to Christian and all would be fine (this was only one conversation - there were many more). We had a bust up - a huge HUGE argument where I literally ran from her as she would not stop coming towards and touching me. So much so I crashed back into a glass door to get away from her. I recounted to her inappropriate things she had said and it turned out that what she had based her 'story' on were total lies - just total lies. She would run after me and grab me after that for a few weeks. Then she got it for a while I blanked her, she did me. She tries to speak to me again now and I blank her. Several others have had the same situ with her and also do not speak to her unless they have to. I know as long as she works there that she will never truly let up - not with just me either. HR know all about it and what I described they described as harassment. Keep yourself to yourself. Don't offer any personal info. Be happy, you are OK just as you are! DrReplyInRhymes
If God is omnipotent (in Christianity he is), then he knows all, Doesn't matter if they try or not, God should already know if you'll fall, So tell them politely, in their words, that it matters not, For God already knows what's in your heart, and whether your future is heaven or hot.
