HansonGirl
There is someone who I know who I really enjoy talking to. Once we get talking, and we've had a number of long conversations, I just feel this sense of calmness. I don't know what it is. I just start to feel very calm and at ease. So if I am feeling that way around someone, does that mean they necessarily are also feeling calm? Or perhaps that's just ALWAYS how they are? Anyways, I don't often get that calmness and it doesn't happen with everybody I talk to, so that's why I am asking!
TaraMaiden2
It happens. Many people put it down to different things... The Chinese and Japanese would put it down to the person's Chi/QWi Energy, being grounded and rooted in their WuJi... In India, they may say that this person has their chakras aligned and their Kundalini is in ascendancy... we would merely say this person has serene leadership qualities, an aura that exudes calmness and control... In any case, I have been in the presence of some like that. I was even told on one occasion, I had the same effect. Hard to believe, I know. But honestly true.

But honestly true. part of me was hoping it meant that we clicked / connected, but if everybody feels that way in their presence...... well nevermind then. Thing is, i know another person who is very calm, but I've never had the same feeling come over me as i do with the person I was asking about. It's like a wave of this sudden feeling of calm that occurs at some point during the one-on-one conversation. i've been told that too. A starbucks barista told me that i have a "calming spirit" and asked if i was a yoga instructor. interesting thing for a barista to mention.. perhaps it was because i hadn't had my coffee yet!! and other people called me calm. but I do have anxiety sometimes and depending on the circumstance, my anxiety shows. d0nnivain
I don't think it means anything per se. I was always atwitter when I first met my husband. He was stoic, which is like calm on steroids. But he's a Marine & his attitude is calm down. There's no automatic weapons fire & nothing else warrants getting worked up.

d0nnivain
you were atwitter about the fact that he was calm, or that you felt calm around him? I was atwitter because I thought he was so handsome & dreamy. I was the opposite of calm. It also freaked me out a little that he was so stoic; I initially misread that as lack of interest.

I like that feeling too! but actually I wasn't talking about that sort of feeling, but rather i am specifically talking about when you are conversing with a person (guy or girl, not necessarily romantic), and you get a wave of calmness, or they have a calm aura about them that makes YOU feel calm too! I feel like I feel this calmness a lot around OLDER people. like my grandma...haha
d0nnivain
Other people don't make me feel calm. But since you experience calmness around older people you need to address why. Perhaps it's less pressure, Perhaps you trust them. Knowing that may give you insight into why you feel calm around him. But again it doesn't tell me anything about the strength of your relationship or confirm that you have connection.

But again it doesn't tell me anything about the strength of your relationship or confirm that you have connection. I am simply asking other people about their experiences. I am not asking you to get to the bottom of it. I noticed you respond to a lot of my threads, often in a very dismissive answer, and then you share this story about how your husband made you atwitter, which is completely irrelevant to what I am asking. I was asking about the people who make us feel CALM. I said, is this some quality about these people? Yes, part of me wishes it meant that we had a bond. I like to feel a connection with people. But this is also a quality i wish I had in my own life. I am merely looking for a discussion. But now i feel like this thread has gone off track. Since it sounds like you don't have anything to contribute, (it sounds like you don't) let's end this derailment. Back to the topic: Does anybody know anybody like that? with a calming aura? Please share.

TaraMaiden2
I was preparing to appear on a UK tv programme. Just a daytime, 'chewing-gum for the mind' kind of thing, nothing deep down and serious. But I know I have an exuberant temperament, and can appear a bit hyper to those who don't know me. And to many who do, I suppose - they used to call me the pickaxe at school, because i broke the ice at parties. Honest! So I'm waiting to be called up into the studio, and I want to avoid emerging like some kind of psycho nutter... I began practising Qi Gong in the Guest Waiting Room. (I teach the Passive Martial Art). I'm just doing a few grounding, calming moves, and a couple of the Floor Assistants come in. I don't notice them, my back is to the door. After a minute or two, my H interrupts... "I think were needed, Darling...." He quietly suggests. One of the Assistants says, "My goodness, Just WATCHING that makes me feel all chilled and calm! I don't even want to stop you! That's amazing!" Her colleague adds, "The whole room feels chilled.... I think we should all just stay here!" We go up and prepare. (Unbeknown to me, the assistant has advised the Floor Manager what I was doing. The result is that we spend 15 minutes talking about it...!) Sadly, it had to be cut from the programme. They had 2.5 hours of footage. I'm told later that it was all so good, they had never had such a tough time editing it down to 45 minutes!
