Jilly10340
So today is my first day on the South Beach Diet. I've had one meal on it so far: Breakfast. I ask you: Is it completely necessary to stuff yourself. I mean, they suggest having some kind of protein and 1/2 cup veggies. I had a small portion of scrambled eggs and a pickle (which equals half a cup.) Ummm.....too much food? I was stuffed! And I'm supposed to have a snack between meals too? I don't know where I would put it. Is anyone here on the south beach diet that doesn't eat exactly what they recommend, but instead just cut out carbs. Is it necessary to eat a minimum of 1/2 - 2 cups of veggies with each meal along with the protein they're already eating for the diet to work? What do other people eat that are on the diet? Do you have to eat all that food. What they recommend seems like so much food. Any advice on this diet would be helpful. Thanks!
cinnamonstix49
My aunt has been on the SB diet for years, she loves it. Your complaint with the diet is different from most people who are on the diet... most people I hear about are hungry all the time or are whining that they can't eat chocolate, lol, so you're off on the right foot... on the other hand... pickles and eggs? GROSS! Some grocery stores sell South Beach Diet brand cereal and stuff... it's not bad... just really expensive. Good luck Jilly!
HotCaliGirl
You should never eat until you feel stuffed. That is unhealthy. Even if it says 1/2 cup, if 1/4 fills you then that's the amount you should go with. Everyone is different and you should use your own judgement as to what is working best for you. The diet might be designed for overweight people with bigger appetites or stomachs or ? Use your own hunger level as an indicator as to how much to eat. A diet without chocolate? Vegetables in the morning? That's a bigger concern! But it sounds better than the Atkins that cuts out carbs. My recommendation would be to eat whatever you want, but in moderation!! Author Jilly10340
Well for the first two weeks you cut out carbs completely like the Atkinds diet. Usually people lose 8-14 pounds the first two weeks. AFter that you reintroduce "good carbs" back into your diet and you usually slow down to losing 1-2 pounds a week after that. I won't miss the carbs really. Candy, won't miss that either. I don't eat fast food, so that's a no brainer. I will miss my turkey sandwichs though *sigh* I only want to lose 10 pounds anyway, so I figured I'd try it and see what happens. The worst thing about a happy healthy relationship is that I always gain weight because i'm happy in it. I eat when I'm happy, what a curse!

Doesn't sound bad (and I'm a vegetarian!) The worst thing about a happy healthy relationship is that I always gain weight because i'm happy in it. That's true...I'm in the opposite situation and can't eat after my break up. If I lose any more weight I'll be skin and bones. I already dropped a bra size
Author Jilly10340
Someone broke up with me about a year and a half ago and I dropped five pounds in a week. I was in a relationship when I was 16 where I actually gained 25 pounds within a year. I was up to 140 when I took an aerobics class in college and lost 40 pounds in 10 weeks. Then I gained 10 immediately after the class ended for good so I was at 110. Now I've been in this relationship for 4 months now and I've gained 10 pounds because I'm so happy with him! So now I just want to lose between 5-10 pounds to get back to where I was. I wonder if this diet is harder for someone who's not overweight, or if it can even benefit them at all? Oh, I can't have turkey sandwichs for the first two weeks because you can't eat any carbs in that time. It's like a "detox" stage where your body adjusts to how it reacts to foods. OHWATABUMER~~
I extremely hate my stretch marks!!! I would do anything to get rid of them, and I am very young too... It bothers me soo much... wearing a bathing suit is a horror for me and especially that I am average weight for my height.... Even though there are many solutions to making stretch marks less noticeable... it feels as if it would never get any lighter... I JUST WISH THEY CAN GO AWAY... : ..
