Hubby snores so badly!!

I have tried poking him, but he snores in any position he sleeps in.

Breathe Right strips, not so good.

Breathe Right spray, useless.

Breathe Right strips w/the spray, sometimes, but no guarantee.

Our insurance really sucks and we are getting medical bills in for our son right now, so we can't afford to the whole sleep therapy thing.

Does anyone know of something that actually works?

We don't have anyother bed, so the only option is sleeping on the couch. Gotta tell ya, my back is killing me from that stupid couch!!!

I've heard sleeping on your side helps.

I have asthma and when I'm having trouble breathing or having a cold and start to snore my hubby gets me to roll over by saying "Spoon?". It's happened so often that even when I'm 100% asleep, if my hubby says spoon, I immediately flip onto my side.

LucreziaBorgia-I don't think its a sinus problem or asthma. He is a little heavier now than he was a few years ago, but not overweight by any means.

~Naive~ We have tried vicks before with no luck.

It starts waking me up about 1:00, by 6:30 I feel like I am punching the shi@t outta him, or begging sometimes even crying. The first night we tried the breathe right spray and it didn't work, I just started crying I was so hopeful that it would work!!

Invest in some ear plugs and a white noise machine.

My exh did this so badly I could sleep in the other room and hear him through two doors and a bathroom fan. He had surgery even, it didn't work.

I feel for ya!

I haven't told him, but I think it wakes up our son in the next room. We have a small house and I can hear him snoring down the hall when I am in the kitchen!!

Mz. P The surgery didn't help!!! That was my "last resort" option!! Oh Man!

Was he in football/sports? Did he break his nose? Does he have allergies? If it's that bad, he needs to see an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist)

There could be a structural abnormality in his nose, in the cartilege. My Dad had this because his nose has been broken several times in barfights (hey, he was in the Navy! :p ). He would snore SO LOUD the walls would shake.

Anyways, turns out he had sleep apnea and was suffering a lot and had to have surgery on his nose. It was funny he had two black eyes, just as if he'd gotten a nose job. So he finally can sleep through the night and doesn't snore.

Also there is a breathing machine you can get prescribed.

I feel your pain. My boyfriend is a huge snorer. I often find myself sleeping on the couch....which wasn't a big deal at his old place because it was on the other side of the house. At the new house, only a wall seperate the bedroom from the living room...I"m glad my bed from my place got moved to our finished basement :D Now, I too snore, about once every 6 mths, I'll wake myself up...but it's nothing comparable to his.

But, we too have tried strips/spray...nothing seems to work....I've even video taped him snoring, trying to see if it's a breathing issue or not (appears to be fine).

I used to be able to sweetly tell him to roll over on his side...it'd work enough for me to fall asleep w/ a pillow over my ears w/ ear plugs (how attractive is this....completely says, f*ck me baby)

Now...he's gotten used to my "babe, you're snorning, roll over" comment so now he just turns up the radio to drown out his snoring....to the point that even the radio's too loud. The max volume level on the radio is 20...this morning, when I came into the bedroom to wake him up after sleeping in the basement, the radio was on 15, normally it gets up to 9 or 10 from a start of 2 or 3. I asked him why it was so high and he says that he kept hearing me tell him he was snoring too loud. Funny thing is, I didn't say a word, I just got up and left.

I have noticed that his snoring gets louder when he does one or more of the following (I've kept a snore journal in case he decides we can spend the cash to send him to a sleep lab at work):

Drinking (even 2 beers will make him snore)

Pot (yeah, it's a relaxant....)

Driving more than 3 hours in a day (doesn't matter if they're right in a row, or small 20 minute trips around town)

Stress

Sex (yes, even this will cause him to snore...afterwards of course :D ...if one or more of the above happen, it's the couch for me)

Drinking more than 1 20oz soda/pop a day...for some reason, him and caffeine cause a big snore-fest.

I have no suggestions, I'm at a complete loss myself. All I can say is, invest in some ear plugs...I have a variety in my night stand, ones for the super heavy duty construction workers, and those for the "snore relief."

B_O Football, sports...heehee Hubby is a big Ol' Geek!! No broken noses that he has spoken of.

Maybe we will just have to "suck it up" someday once we can financially afford it and visit an ENT.

He had structural stuff done to his nose, all the excess tissue removed from him throat, the works!!!

At first it worked because he dropped alot of weight. The surgery is BRUTAL. It took three weeks to recover. In the beginning he couldn't even swallow the liquid pain medicine to get pain relief.

The weight came back on and the snoring increased again. There was another procedure they could have done but after $15K (most of which insurance covered) I was like, what's the use and we slept in separate rooms.

After the divorce and I met my bf- he snores a little but ear plugs are enough. I buy the little ones with down in them. I didn't realize how much I missed the intimacy of sleeping with someone again!
