How terrible. Height doesn't just come from the father's genes; but the mother also. One of my nephews blames his short mom for his height. This whole thing is getting out of hand.

What a horrible thing to ask of your husband who you are supposed to love :(

Sad, but some women just wanna get preggo. Men, even their "husbands" are just sperm donors, paychecks, and/or babysitters.

One woman I knew had no issue with telling her husband she wanted to do envitro with a donor's sperm cuz hubby was having issues producing his. I wish he would have divorced her butt on the spot.

I know of other women who wanted a baby so bad they had it with a guy who maltreated her son (his stepson) and was a drunk who physically abused her....yep, and all she could talk anout is how bad she wanted another kid.

That woman is doing us all a favor by keeping such a whiny, weak man from contributing to the gene pool. So go easy on her. We've got enough problems already in the world without more kids who can't even reasonably cope with the fact they're not as tall as other guys.

According to the Reddit thread the guy never really had a height complex though - although he did state it caused him 'some' disadvantage in dating.

I hope he divorced her right after she finished her sentence. How shallow are these people?!

Poor guy, that is terrible of his wife to say! Its very insensitive, she should of not married him if height was an issue, if you love your spouse you love them no matter what how rude of her.

The truth is only 15% of men are over six feet tall. Most men are between 5'7" and 5'11". My suspicion is it is based on perception creating reality. In real life people can be attracted to or repelled by the physical reality of a person.

So a 5'1" woman can get with a man somewhat reasonable " 4" taller when she wear 4" heels " or 5'9". Well within the meaty part of average US male height. However, that same woman in online dating only wants 6' tall or more. Because in her mind 6' tall is "tall". They do not have a realistic idea of just how tall 6' really is for a man. Much less anyone much over 6'. So they think all the men who are 5'9" tall are 6' tall.

I am sure I saw a scientific study on this but I can't find the link right now.

I'm 5'8, which is pretty much within the average realm of men in the U.S.

I've also never had any issue as far as dating or meeting women until the recent explosion of social media and dating sites. Now, all of a sudden, majority of women want nothing to do with guys under 6ft tall. And it seems that the shorter women actually have the biggest issue with it. Almost all of my past relationships have been with women that were almost the same height as me. But nowadays, I get dismissed on a regular basis by women that are under 5'5...telling me that I'm not tall enough for them.

Like I said above it is all about perceptions making reality. If you were tall enough that they had to be on tiptoes to kiss you they would not care.

Consider Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Failed relationship after failed relationship with man that was much taller than her. Then she gets with "short" Kanye west who is 5'8". Kim is 5'4" Kanye is as tall as her on 4" heels which she loves to wear.

Kim married Kanye and had kids with him after being with all these other guys. One, Ray J, even made a music video about how he "

".

Let me ask you guys in this thread. Who's really better off now the "nice" ahem Kanye West who took on that woman with history? Or the "bad boy" Ray J?

Between the two of them I'd say Kanye is the real alpha. He was the man that was able to love and be with Kim even though she had a well known history. He had a history too.

TL;DR: Don't live by gender typed stereotypes so strictly it makes you miserable. Passing on a man because he's not 6' tall is just asking for problems. Don't be bitter about "loosing out" on a woman's "best years" or reject them for having a history. Instead focus on the here and now and make some history of your own. Eventually you'll find a good guy or gal.

(If only I could be so upbeat when I give myself advice.)

I'm sure the reason she had kids with him is because of his very tall bank account. The other guys can't compare.

Just as a general reminder, let's keep our replies relevant to the topic at hand and not veer off course to the topic of height and it's relation to dating or attractiveness. That topic is being discussed at length elsewhere on Loveshack. ~Thank you

I don't believe this story. When a women decides to marry you she usually has "measured you up" so to speak (no not height) as a potential good father material and would not marry you if she thought otherwise. Assuming she wanted kids at all.

But I supposed the answer from this guy should have been - "lets get a surrogate too because we don't want a child getting your fat ass"
