Ooops lost my wedding ring

Recommended Posts

So I noticed that I lost my wedding ring on my way home last night and I wasn't sure what to do. The chances of finding it are not likely. So I went and bought another one at lunch before the wife noticed it missing.

Question is should I tell her or just not worry about it?

I guess the answer lies in how much it will worry you not to tell her. If you don't tell her, don't worry about it and she doesn't notice she's none the wiser. But, if you want to be honest with her and get it off your chest, just tell her that you lost it - and in a panic bought one during lunch, and that you felt bad for not telling her to begin with.

It was very innocent I assure you. I was with my brother, dad, and grand dad yesterday afternoon. We went out to the local track to practice racing. We race go-karts in racing league in our area. Something the boys could do for fun. I don't know when I lost it but on the way home I realized it was gone. I never took it off.

I loved the one I had so I just went and bought the same one. It's like it never happened except this one isn't the one she gave me the day of our wedding and I feel guilty about that. But I would rather feel guilty I think than to upset her. She is a major drama queen and will make this a big deal.

Go ahead and tell her how you lost it and that you replaced it quickly because you didn't want to hurt her.

Maybe call the go-kart track and see if anyone returned it...maybe it fell off in the kart? Also were you wearing gloves?

No worries just tell her now before she finds out later and gets ideas of why you would cover that up. just my .02

Nah don't tell her. If you got one that looks the same...who cares. Its not like the original was blessed by the pope. Jewelry can be replaced. And your human...ya lose things....whether it was your car keys or your wedding band....How do you know she didn't do the same? Keeping something for as long as you live is pretty hard.

Tell her. And pray she believes you. Rings are important to me.

Maybe she won't make a fuss about it. Just be honest.

P.S. You're cute about buying quickly a new one :).

I remember my exhusband lost his wedding band like 3 times. The first time? The day after we got married!! Assmonkey that he is.

Anyways if she would make a big stink I say don't tell her. That's JMO, though.

Tell her! And hit the track with a metal detector so that you can return your other one. :D

If you bought a new one, did you purchase it at a jewelery shop with a credit card?

Now your wife is going to see the charge on the statment and wonder who you're buying jewelery for!:laugh:

God, I'm such a Girl!

Do you care about integrity? If so, this is what you do: Ask yourself what is the right thing to do and then DO IT.

I think you'll make the right decision.

I called my dad and had him check all the racing gear and trailer that we haul the karts around in. He couldn't find it. But both him and my brother are aware that I lost it out there so I am not worried about her not believing my story or anything. But I think the rings are a big deal and I don't want her to think I didn't care enough about it not to loose it.

I would freak if she lost hers but there was a lot more put into hers to freak about it. As big a mouth as my dad has I'm sure he will let it slip out any way. I panicked this morning and hid my hands when I left the house so she wouldn't notice the missing ring. Got to work checked LS then started making calls to locate a jeweler with my exact ring. Luckily I got the exact one just looks like the old polished up a bit.

IIWY, I'd tell her before your dad does. You will lose some respect in her eyes if she thinks you deceived her. You're human, you make mistakes like everyone else. She'll forgive you if you are honest and up front with her.

The fact you replaced it so quickly will comfort her that it means a lot to you to wear that ring.

Ok, so I felt guilty about the ring and didn't want my loud mouth family to let it out. So I got up early Sat. morning and drove out to where I lost my ring. I found in about 30 minutes and was back home by 8:30 before my wife was even out of bed.

When she got up I put on both rings, the new one and the original, and told her what had happened. She said I should have just told her to begin with and she would have helped me looked for it. She wasn't mad but I have my suspensions it was because I had the original ring back and no need to get too mad. Just thought I would update you all and let you know all is well with Lord of the Rings!!

Just go to church with her but don't tell her why. Once you get their tell her to wait inside the church next to the Holy Water and tak the ring and put it in her hand. Once you do that do a minnie version of your vowels and have it blessed with each other in God's own home.

That would be nice and a way to make it meaningful again and that way she won't think your a creep for losing it :o

Oh well now that I read the WHOLE POST you're under control :p

Thanks guys, I don't pretend to always know the right thing to do but I got some good advice and in the end did the right thing. But I'll be back, this was a small drop in the bucket to some other issues that I will have to post about sooner or later. Thanks again.

A couple of years ago I was at the car wash, the manual kind. My ring fell off and rolled into the trap. I found the attendant and he gave me a bucket I sifted through the muck and grime and found it after 20 minutes! The suspense was intense.
