Feeling young at 40

I am 45 and look and feel at least 10 years younger. My boyfriend is 9 years younger and no one believes I'm older than him.

Nice work hippychick!

Getting old(er) is mandatory....Looking/feeling old(er) is optional...

TFY

That is sometimes true. Genes play a lot into that fact.

I happen to have good skin which makes me appear younger. I take care of my skin and eat "beauty foods" but my genetics play a big part.

Rather like "Pain is inevitable, 'suffering' is optional."

Depends what kind of pain it is

At some point, everyone, everywhere will suffer both physical and psychological/emotional pain.

The quotation applies in either case.

What kind of pain are you thinking of?

I'm thinking of my cousin whose entire body was ridden with cancer. The pain meds didn't work. She suffered for several months before dying in the most horrendous pain.

Perfect! Great shot. Hugs.

(I'm taking mine down now. With my luck someone will recognize me.)

at 52 I don't feel my age, I work a hard 12-14 hour day, 5-6 days a week and don't have any trouble staying far ahead of the younger generation I work with..

some of it is just plain drive, I had drive at 20 and still do at 52, physically though.. my hands hurt, my knees creak and hurt on occasion and it takes my body longer to heal from work injuries... but oh well...

I think my mind at 20-25 was faster and sharper but I was crippled by not being experienced.

40's.. heck the 50's have been the best so far...

Take some vitamin D and get out in the sun to help those hands :)

I'm late 40s but feel like late 20s ... I think it helps to still be excited about learning new things and taking on new challenges. I'm the life-long learner type.

This is me at 58.5 years. Taken about 15 minutes ago.

I think this is the first time I have ever revealed what I look like.

And no, I have never coloured my hair.

Wow TM! Good genes! You look 38.5

It doesn't take a great stretch of imagination for me to picture Tara giving you a pretty good roughing up if you owed her a few quid. :)

the worst thing, imo, are people who cannot own their real age. it's a flaw, as i see it; needing validation that you still look good and can compete with others who are actually younger. a guy recently told me he could pass for 40, but he was 64, and looked 70, honestly. he was/is clearly deluded. it's nice to have a good opinion of yourself, but your insides are still aging even if your outside looks good. don't live in denial
