Should women be concerned if a man drives a volvo station wagon?

Bobbi, being inside your head must be a terrible place. Quit with all your judgments and questioning of other's behaviour. You'll be much happier if you do.

I would be but that's beside the point. Should a guy be worried if the girl he's chatting with in OLD cannot make her own decisions, even about minor things, about the guys she is meeting or considering meeting?

You ask this question like you are serious about it and it's a life shattering element. Yes, a car kinda indicates where a person is in their life, what they are about etc. A station wagon indicates something different than a sports car. It either fits your range of what you like or it doesn't. Or you find it trivial and the person compelling enough to give it a pass.

This thread is about guys and what type of car they drive, and who's judging? I know most women on here judge men by what kind of car they drive. Of course all the males will get defensive about it.

Well, perhaps since the word Volvo is close to the word vulva... It makes perfect sense:D The guy must be gay. It's kinda like explaining the reason why a frog stops jumping when you cut off its legs is because it goes deaf:lmao:

Bobbi, you must be a fun girl to date...

What, in your opinion, is wrong with a Volvo station wagon?

According to The Law Enforcement training Manual on Sexual Assault:

A Sadistic Rapist is :

Usually a white male, outgoing, and well liked.

Above average IQ, at least some college education.

White-collar job

No history of mental health care.

Compulsive.

May own a family type vehicle (e.g. a Volvo or station wagon.)

Well what kind of car do you drive? Honestly based on your criteria that is what we should be evaluating. Does a volvo go with a xxx (your car)?

Also a 10year old volvo may indicate that he is not that concerned with cars other than using it to get from one place to the other? How do you feel about this?

These are elementary questions for someone who is 30 years old--they hardly require a poll from a forum--unless your real intent is to get everyone all riled up. Either YOU care materialistically or you don't. Some women do, some don't. Some do, but it's not a dealbreaker. Jesus

It depends. Do you like guys with a lot of money?

Because typically, people living paycheck to paycheck drive the fanciest new cars. Would you rather the car in the parking lot looks amazing while you go Pakistani, paying for dinner inside? Or would you rather the car out there is the old volvo while he not only pays for dinner but also books a trip to a tropical island for you?

Intelligent people know a car is one of the worst investments you can make and minimize their losses on vehicles by purchasing an older model that runs well and has a decent resale value.

The lack of intelligence some women have regarding finances really astounds me at times.

I guess just as concerned if a girl your dating gets her father to pay for everything and she's in her 30's. lol

Look mate, with all due respect, I think it's just storm in a teacup and your just feeling a bit like you don't have the "credentials" to meet the standards of some woman you're trying to date. No woman is going to care about what you drive. They're looking for love, not a Bentley.

May I also assume he wears corduroy pants, penny loafers, and has a skullet?

OK, I'll bite.

What, in your opinion, is wrong with a Volvo station wagon?

Aside from it being terribly effeminate, that's the ultimate 'soccer mom' car. Blech.

Far from being effeminate, they are also one of the most popular cars for hardcore surfers and snowboarders to take on anything but effeminate weekend trips to the mountains or surfing.

Also, I've seen more than one burly construction guy own one for those long.commutes to far away jobs. All the tools fit safely out of the rain and the car gets far better mileage than a truck, especially if diesel.

*I don't own one, it you're missing a lot here when you think about the car. It's just a car. As a girl, I'd be far more concerned about guys driving macho machines to make up.for teenie weenie syndrome or whatever..

I don't understand the question.

Is it something that causes you concern for some reason?

I wouldn't be concerned at all, but since you obviously are - what kind of car do you drive? What kind of house do you live in? How much money do you make? What type of career do you have?

Since you're into judging someone based off something like their car, let's hear what you've got going for you. I recall in one of your recent threads, you thought a $16/hour a job was a lot of money worth bragging about, so I would like to know how much you make and what sort of nice things you own because of it.

While I have admired certain car choices I have never judged a man by the type of car he drove. In fact when I met DH he drove a p.o.s. little car that was a cheap-o thing brand new. If I was to judge by cars, we never would have gotten to the 1st date.

I suppose if I met a man who drove a late model station wagon of any sort, I'd wonder if he had kids. As for the Volvo I'd just assume safety was important to him.

What exactly are your concerns about this particular vehicle? You need to be more specific. Do you think he's married? boring? a serial rapist (as pointed out by another poster)? frugal because the car is older? What exactly is this vehicle saying to you that prompted the Q?

All kidding aside, there is something kind of odd about a guy who would drive a station wagon. Unless he has a litter of kids to drag around and just can't bring himself to get a minivan.

My eyebrow would raise if I saw a guy pull up in one at the supermarket so I don't blame a woman for being a little disturbed on a date.
