OP, I remember a similar situation like yours oh, 20 years ago or so, where I was flying into Lviv to meet someone I had been corresponding with for months and things went sideways but I already had the plane tickets and apartments rented so decided what they heck, see if I can meet some new folks, did, and ended up arriving there on New Years day due to a weather delay back in the US. Other than one night in a hotel to straighten things out with OVIR (yeah, back then things were strict with visas), it was a wonderful three weeks traveling around Ukraine at the holidays. The cool thing was different parts of the country observed different calendars so I got to enjoy Gregorian Christmas and New Years in-country. When life serves up lemons, add a twist to one's vodka and move on. Safe travels and hope things go well!

I'll be at the local movie theater watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

A week at a resort in the he Canadian Rockies. Lake Louise. Looks like the most magical place on Earth and the perfect Christmas location. Ice castles, moose, skiing, skating. Best of all lots of family members and relatives gathering from around North America.

Only issue is can I take my homemade cookies through customs. Will have to look that up.

My cousin is having the Christmas party at their house- always a good time. I've agreed to have the New Years party. Family, friends and fun...

WHY did you decline? ;)

Because I still had 3 hours of work and 1 hour to get home in front of me. :p And my friend's new place is about 120 miles away from my college place, quite a distance for someone without a driver's license.

In all probability I will be at home working.

All the festive season does is make me feel more alone than ever, will surf a bit from time to time, hope to get a bit fitter.

All in all a fairly bleak time of the year for me.

Why don't you spend it with your friends & family? Or you can go out and make some new friends? ;)

Thanks and I hope you have a great one!

We'll be entertaining at my house...

At first I was gung-ho about it, but then started back peddling cuz the house is a bit crowded.

I don't believe I'll be cooking much this time, so will be the cleanup/setup crew. I already bought the plates, table cloths and all that. Still wondering about how/what to serve the food in.

So far not even sure if those guys finalized the menu....

Oooh, I'm thinking of setting a fire and some lights on the patio too...

This has been a very mild winter so far so, need to consider setting-up the patio too...not so sure about the indoor fireplace...gotta consult with sis-in-law, she's running the event/gathering.

It shouldn't, but I don't get how my relatives cook. I don't spend that much time in the kitchen and think my food is pretty good. They make more mess, they take longer, it's a bit much for me.

Thanksgiving I seasoned the turkey the nite before and had everything laid out and they just took over  I was glad they did most of the cooking, but I don't remember me making so much mess and/or spending so much time in the kitchen and last Thanksgiving people loved the food - I did darn well...

I don't know, part of me is excited to host and serve food...part of me is just ready for the holidays to be over with:p

I'll probably be resting in a comfy coffin.

Funny, I've never pictured you as a Goth.... But now I've got you down as Abby Sciuto...

Suicide is pretty popular this time of year. Might give that a shot. Otherwise, I'll be in Denver with family asking me why I'm still single at 38.

:lmao:I hope it's the latter. My dad will be getting married on boxing day, pretty sure I'll be getting tons of funny questions from nosey relatives! i.e. ur dad is getting married for the second time, so when's your turn?
