jsmith92
Hi all, I left my job 6 weeks ago after 4 years. I was a shift manager at a pub, the job was OK but the money and the lack of social life eventually got the better of me, working weekends and/or late nights is just no life. I had actually been saying for over a year that I wanted to get out and 6 weeks ago I finally gave in and just done it as I felt I was going nowhere. Now however I am starting to worry about what to do next, im 26 in March and didn't go to uni but I do have some managerial experience. I have had 2 interviews both of which came to nothing, although I was close with my second one. I don't want to just settle for any job, I feel like I have wasted the last few years in a job which ultimately I was going nowhere just getting by with no ambition. I live in London and want to move out from my family home within the next few years so I need to have something decent. Every now and then I get anxious and worry about not having any work and what Im going to do next. I have some savings which I have just started to have to dig into, my girlfriend is being very supportive however it is not nice not feeling good enough for her at the minute. Any advice? Why not give university a try to better your long term job prospects? 26 is still pretty young. I don't know how things are in England, but here in the US universities have part-time jobs for currently attending students.
d0nnivain
In the future don't quit a job unless you have another lined up. Step up your game in terms of looking for work. You need to be sending out 5-10 resumes / on line applications per day. You only get interviews for less than 5% of the resumes you send out.
