It depends on the people involved, I think. My lover and I treat our phone calls like dates. We will make plans to talk at a specific time and spend anywhere from an hour up to 3 hours (ack! ) on the phone. To me, I feel like the person I care about lives far away, for now, but he's planning on moving to the states (ironically, to a city 2 hours away from me) to be close to me. 2 hours away, for me, ain't nothin - my BF lives in freaking Scotland.

 

Also we have a "don't ask don't tell" policy. I assume, because of prior experiences, that all men are cheaters. I just ask that he have the courtesy to use a rubber.

 

And you don't have to cry, nor do you have to fight. It's always a matter of choice. It's almost like an ideal relationship for me, because I don't particularly LIKE having someone up in my business 24/7. But that's me.

 

I feel that if you want it to work, and you have plans to be together in the near future, and thus something to look forward to, it's worth it. Why pick someone just because they live near you? You could ultimately be more compatible or happier with the LDR....it's always a craps shoot when it comes to love.

Wouldn't me choosing to be with him make it more for a better relationship. Of course I had a choice and I chose someone 2 hours away. B/C he was the better choice. I'm tired of the little boys around here that still laugh when they hear the word balls. I am willing to make it work but I have no idea the nitty gritty of a LDR. The in's and out's. IHNFC, I was too. This is my first, and I swore up down and all around that LDRs were silly non-relationships that I would never engage in one, blah blah blah.

 

Then love came and spit in my soup. I think we all figure it out for ourselves, over time. If it's going to work, it will work.
