A year with out social media

Recommended Posts

I deleted my facebook back in the fall. I just deactivated my instagram account. I want real authentic relationships of all types!. Plus I just got on a competitive volunteer organization so I don't need it. No constant comparing of my life to others has been great. I might get one or two likes on on instagram. But really no one pays attention to their instagram. My goal is to go a year with out either and possibly longer.

I'm proud of you. If I had a life I wouldn't be posting stuff online, I'm glad someone is giving life a chance. :)

Great! I recently deactivated my FB account and don't miss it at all. Some of my friends want to, but won't because of FOMO, but I tell them that after a couple of weeks, they won't even notice it anymore. So liberating!

My church does a lot of things on Facebook so I feel like I miss out a lot. But if I ever do make another one. I'll do it where people cannot find it or make it obvious its me and will not have any friends. I have enough to occupy my time now so not worried about it.

Contact your pastor, explain your situation, but how you still want to attend,

Tell him you'd rather not be left out, but rather be informed with another end,

As someone who is a member of a church, I'd be hard pressed to see him deny,

In fact, I'm sure he'd be thrilled that you've taken steps to be included and why.

Love it. I myself have never been big on social media, i find it hillarious when you see people having hundreds of friends...just to probably never talk to them. Social media is so overated. And it certainly doesn't teach you any social skills.

This is pretty cool.

I would delete facebook but I do use it by visiting my family page to keep track of holiday's graduation, etc. Otherwise I don't use it for much.

That being said, I fear that over the last few years that the internet (in general) has become a goto for dealing with boredom and I could probably come up with some better options.

What is competitive volunteering?

I have extensive training with them. I'm keeping that private in the event someone from that organization crawls on this page.
