Bobbi7
In the past, I would openly tell people what my hobbies are, etc, etc. For example I would tell them that I love music and I'm a cat lover. Well, they would start to laugh and poke fun at it saying...what stupid group I listen to, or that cats are stupid animals, etc, etc. I thought sharing someone's hobbies is a good conversation starter and would let the other person get to know them better...I'm like what a-holes! I mean, alot of people have hobbies like art, games, star wars, sports teams-yet, I don't think I would ever call them out and tell them $#*%&*^&, what a stupid hobby you have! That would be rude. But thanks, to them, now I'm very guarded and I don't tell anyone, what my hobbies/interests, what my favorite good, movie, games, nothing. I just tell them that I have no hobbies. mrldii
...I just tell them that I have no hobbies. GOOD plan!!! Until, of course, others start saying things like 'only stupid and/or boring people have no hobbies/interests'. Then, what will you?

mrldii
What should I do? Be tight lipped about it? No, no, no...being tight-lipped after being open about your hobbies is what led you to the conclusion to no longer state your preferences. Hmmm...what to do, what to do...? OOOOOooooo...I've got an idea, and it's just so crazy, it just might work! Just do you, boo... ...and stop trying to turn yourself into a pretzel every time someone expresses an opinion they have that doesn't line up with who you are.
Dylon
That's silly to avoid sharing your interests. You just had an immature group of audience. Don't let them bother you.
CarrieT
Well, they would start to laugh and poke fun at it saying...what stupid group I listen to, or that cats are stupid animals, etc, etc. If someone belittles you for music you listen to or animals you are fond of, then they are - flat-out - not worth spending time with at all. Seriously; what kind of people do you have in your life who will poke fun at someone for something so banal as their music interests?

Come on now Bobbi, never change to suit an audience, just find a better audience. You'll never find someone who clicks with you unless you're open. No one has a unique hobby, so if it's picking other people's scabs or screaming through mail boxes, then you should let people know because there is a guy out there somewhere who will feel exactly the same as you. Woggle
Never hide who you are and seek out people who have similar interests or are at least respectful about yours.
brothers343
I have never met anyone that was not interested in talking about there hobbies. I like finding out what interests my friends have. I think it's just part of knowing someone.
