Bobbi7
I've know about these video game tournaments in my area and like 99% of the players are guys-mostly in their early 20's. With probably at least one or two 30+ year old men. Unfortunately, would I have known about these gaming events, I would have attended some 10 years ago when I was in my 20's. Would it be ridiculous for a 34 year old woman to show up to one of these? Or are their games too important to even talk to a female?
bastus
depend , if u also love to play , you can both have fun and make new male friends there ,i guess.. some games like lol and dota require large amount of concentration (especially on tournament) tend to make players ignore people around em , imo. SwordofFlame
It'll be a total meat market for you. What have you got to lose?
Gaeta
Why would you go in a place full of 20 years old? Nothing interesting there for you. Try something a little more mature. Apparently the best place to meet someone is by being a member of a political party and attend conventions and stuff.
smackie9
Guys who go to these events are not interested in hookin up/meeting girls. They are their because gaming consumes their life, pretty much like a career. There isn't good quality BF material there. Try joining a social club that sets up age appropriate events like cooking classes for singles or wine tasting, or mixers.

Yes, a 34 year-old woman attending these kinds of things for the purpose of finding a date/mate, isn't very sophisticated at least. And, if you had any "success", you'd be dating a man-child. So, guys that play video games are white trash losers who sit on their asses all day? That's a pretty harsh judgement. There are some that are in college and have jobs... GunslingerRoland
I think the important thing, is whether this is actually an interest of yours. Sure you will meet some guys in their 30s their, but their is nothing sadder than pretending to have an interest just to get a date.
CarrieT
So, guys that play video games are white trash losers who sit on their asses all day? That's a pretty harsh judgement. There are some that are in college and have jobs... I think the point being made is that s tournament, they have their sights set on playing, competing, and immersing in the game - not being hit-on by chicks. Look, an early BF of mine attended and won at these tournaments. I was his driver and - frankly - unusual arm candy for him that was mostly ignored (except for an occasional glance of surprise) by the other attendees. Instead, consider conventions versus competitions; much more discussion and interaction going on.
LookAtThisPOst
Yeah, I stick to the more casual non-competitive geek conventions and approach the cosplay ladies. :-)
SwordofFlame
OP, are you even into these video games that these guys play? If you are, that's at least something you have in common.

I have a feeling that the majority of boys there will be shy, awkward, or uninterested. Are you hoping to get hit on by gamers?
DaveHammer
If went to one I wouldn't mind meeting women there.
Popsicle
I happened to be staying at a hotel one time where a cosplay thing was hosted. It was wild!
bluefeather
I happened to be staying at a hotel one time where a cosplay thing was hosted. It was wild! Cosplay is way different than a gaming tournament. I've been to a cosplay event that was set up like a night-club. That was awesome. Add a hotel to something like that and it spells fun night. A gaming tournament would be something else. Where cosplay's focus would be dress-up fun (with a pretty equal mix of guys and girls), a game tournament's would be competition (mostly guys, possibly many of them lacking in social skills).

tasev1
If I was personally a gamer there, absolutely! But I agree.....the general demographic would not be conductive to meeting.
