I looked it up the diet is actually healthy The peanut butter gives your metabolism an energy boost I think it might have said like 8 lbs in a week sorry didn't mean to say 3 cuz that is nuts. But I have been staying away from all that junk to tell you the truth I've never been the one to eat the sweets, ice cream, or burgers. But I do like pizza lol. but I haven't done pizza for a while just veggies which I love. Also Today I went for a 9 mile bike ride I felt great I wanted to keep going but my b/f was tired lol and he's in the army He should be use that lol!!!! tomorrow it will be a longer bike ride.

 

I just don't want to wait for ever to see results. ya know

 

when you saw your results how much was it? was it a pound or was it like 3 either way thats great!

Hey every one... I have great knews! I thought I wasn't losing weight but turns out my scale was broken I got a knew digital scale today... and I lost 7 lbs this week. I guess that 9 mile bike ride last night helped!

Thanx for the motivation

You see, the thing that worries me about that is that there's too much focus on having a negative image of the way you are just now. I know it works for some people, but it can also be a factor in the development of eating disorders.

 

Especially worrisome in that more and more scientific evidence is coming in by that day that shows that your body type is, by and large, genetically pre-determined. You are dealt either one of three body types by genetics ... Ectomorph (soft, round body, average to large frame, stores fat easily), Mesomorph (typical athlete, broad shouldered and narrow hips), and Endomorph (long, lean body, usually thin with little muscle or fat). If you're an Ectomorph, you could workout like an Olympic Sprinter and throw away hundreds of dollars a month in supplements and still never have an Endomorph's body. Charles Barkley had an Ectomorphic body as an NBA player who ran up and down a basketball court with Micheal Jordan type athletes for 4 days a week.

 

However, the fact that we're not swimsuit models that does not mean tha we can't enjoy the health benefits of diet and exercise, nor doesit give us reason to give up and let ourselves go. It also doesn't mean that you're doomed to unattractiveness. There are very incredibly attractive people in this world from all three body types.

Can I weigh in here? (Just kidding.) Don't diet. It's an unreal way of eating and when you reach your goal, you go back to old habits and gain it back. Waste of time! Instead or focusing on your weight (just a number), focus on your HEALTH. Look at the new food pyramid. You should be eating 5-9 servings a day of fruit and veggies, 3 servings of whole-grain (like 100% whole wheat bread, brown rice, oatmeal, etc.), 2 portions of protein, etc. Think about feeding your body things that will make you feel good and healthy. Avoid processed foods like white bread, cookies, crackers, etc. BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT - have a treat every day. It does NOT have to be food. It can be a bubble bath, a favorite TV show, a stroll with friends, etc. Look forward to it.

As for exercise, for years I have walked an hour a day. And I have hit a plateau due to perimenopause - my metabolism has turned to molasses. So I have started to walk twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. The night walk is sometimes a little shorter but that's okay. I also have hand weights I use at home and have been very dedicated to using them 3 times a week. This has helped me move off that plateau. I am sleeping better too.

wow - a lot of good advice given

i don't know about that peanut butter diet though - i did read a lot of diet advice talking about eating peanut butter in your diet because it has a lot of protein and can keep u full - but didn't say for everymeal - i do tend it eat it everyday for lunch on some wheat bread with yogurt but just because i like it - everymeal might make me crazy - lol

 

sometimes i do get a little nutty because i want to see fast results especially since it's summer and will read some of those crazy diets but never do them because i know i couldn't and some aren't really healthy.

 

yeah - my problem is with the being patient part - if i had been i probably would be close to my goal right now - but can't think that way anymore - i ate pretty healthy last week and did a lot of walking - i haven't weighed myself because my clothes still feel the same

 

i have a friend at work that is pretty fit and i talked to her about her eating and exercising and found out she has to work hard to look like she does. We also starting walking on our breaks together - which doesn't seem like much but adds another 30 mins of walking in on the day. She eats pretty healthy - healthy cereal for breakfast and maybe some fruit, her lunch is either like a healthy choice meal, or a little sandwich and some yogurt, or fruit and an english muffin. She also usually has a snack of some fruit or a small bag of popcorn, drinks usually water and maybe 1 diet soft drink, and dinner is usually something with chicken and veggies, or eggs and toast. A lot of usual things for dinner but eats a smaller portion and uses a lot of lowfat stuff instead of the fattening stuff - like if she wants cheese, sourcream, or mayo - it's all lowfat and a little bit for taste. But she will treat herself once a week or so on something she really wants - like a dessert or fries - but only once in awhile.

 

And for working out - she does 2 workouts a day - walks or runs in the morning for at least a half an hour and then again after dinner. It's at least a half an hour or more if she feels like it.

 

i'm just going to continue to eat better and do the 2 times a day workout - either 2 half hour cardios alternating with a half hour cardio/half hour strength. Another thing i'm gonna stop is weighing myself everyday - it's just ends up making me mad most of the time - just gonna go by how I feel and how my clothes feel. I'll weigh myself once in a while. I'm using how i feel more to keep me motivated - i realize i'm not gonna lose it that fast - my body is just diff now - i just try to look my best everyday - no matter what my size is -

 

My exbf started me on the whole weighing thing - he would weigh himself at least 3 times a day and keep track of it - it drove me bonkers - to him it was motivating - to each their own i guess. He even bought me a fancy scale for Christmas one year - i opened it in front of my family - i thought i was gonna die and then he told me to test it out in front of everyone - he was lucky it was Christmas and i didn't kill him - lol - gotta be the worst present ever - i should of threw him and his scale out the door that day - me and my friends and family still laugh at that story - what a wienie

well purple21 you say that you are doing gym. Can you plz tell me that have you got any profit by doing various overweight aerobics exercises which i m sure that you must have done.

 

Now change the topic and you were talking about healthy food. So I just wanna say that a food that is low in calorie will result in weight loss. So the answer of the question "what should be the healthy food for weight loss is Negative Calorie food". Negative calories food are foods which use more calories to digest than the calories the food actually contains. These includes cauliflower, celery, cucumber, carrot, garlic, papaya, spinach, turnip, zucchini, apples, oranges, lettuce, grapefruit, pineapples, strawberries, and raspberries.

A tapeworm would be your best bet. Try eating uncooked infected pork.

If a health professional really said this - which I doubt - they should be struck off. This diet is lacking in essential vitamins, minerals etc and is high in fat.

OK, let me lay it on the line for you. There is a simple fact, which if you can accept it, will mean that you will almost certainly lose weight and trim up. But if you can't accept it, you will almost certainly not lose weight and keep it off. Are you ready?

 

Sure you're ready?

 

Weight loss takes time. It's not like going to McDonald's or Taco Bell, where you order and get it in 2 minutes. That attitude is what made you overweight in the first place. Like everyone else has said (why am I wasting my breath? lol) you need a change of lifestyle - low sugar fruits, vegetables, lean meat, exercise. Permanent weight loss will slowly follow. 1 lb a week is probably the most you can expect, but think how much that adds to in a year.

 

Significant weight loss in 8 weeks is unrealistic - most of the loss will be not be fat, but muscle and this will decrease your calorific needs, meaning long term weight gain.

Calories from these foods are much harder for the body to breakdown and process. In other words, the body has to work harder in order to extract calories from these foods.

 

So it's not that they have "negative calories" -- it's that the ultimate calorie consumption end result is negative because it takes calories for your body to extract calories from said food stubstance.

I thought the negative calorie thing was just a myth - calories go a lot further than you think.

 

In any case, you'll lose weight if you stop eating junk food and replace it with these healthy choices.

Also, don't drink your calories - I saw that in "Supersize Me" -- sodas, sweet tea, lemonade, fruit juices (that are like 10 % real fruit juice) -- empty calories that make you fat.

Thanks! Actually, even when it is 100% real fruit juice there's a problem - it's much more quickly absorbed when in liquid form, with the fibre broken up. Makes it more like sugar from your body's pov.

There is no such thing. It's a myth. Go read up on how digestion works from a reputable source and you'll understand that this 'theory' has no science behind it.

Negative calorie foods, eat-nothing-but-peanut-butter diets, the "magic bullet" that melts the pounds off effortlessly. These are myths, stories people tell themselves to help them avoid the reality: Losing weight takes effort, commitment, patience, and discipline.

 

I get so angry when I see those Metabolife, Cortislim, or whatever other pills people are peddling to make money off those so desperate to lose weight that they'll actually pay their money for nothing more than a glorified herbal supplement. I also find it sad when people think they can eat an all-cabbage diet or something and actually be able to maintain that weight loss--they're so disappointed, and even puzzled, when the weight comes back on, plus more, when they return to their normal eating habits.

 

Eat less, exercise more. Decrease portion size, exercise 4 to 6 times a week, eat healthy foods instead of junk, eat a good breakfast, drink more water, indulge once in a while so you don't feel deprived, and take pride in building a strong, healthy body.

 

Those are the truisms of weight loss that don't sell too many books, but they're the only ones that work for the long term.

Well I figure if you eat those fruits and veggies listed above it's better than the bag of skittles or cheetos in your pantry. I'm just sayin'. Whether it's true or not, better to eat those foods than peanut butter every dern day.

 

I've never really had a weight problem I think because I grew up eating mainly Vietnamese food, or in that style. I only eat bread in the mornings, with coffee, and any other carb I eat is either a vegetable or rice. I eat a lot of steamed things, or stuff that is stir fried quickly at a high heat. I swear a lot of western foods are so fatty. My BF was telling me that in Scotland they even deep fry pizza!! :sick:

True dat. Anyway, I suppose pretending that they burn calories is one way to get people to eat them since 'eat them because they're good for you' doesn't cut it :laugh:

Worse - they deep fry Mars Bars!!!! LOL

 

But then look at 'chicken fried steak'!!! :eek: Take some fatty meat, dip it in breading or some sort of batter, and fry it in MORE FAT :sick:

My brother said he went to one restaurant that had fried fettucini alfredo - eeks

 

Doing good so far this week - it helps that I have no money to buy food - oh well i may have to eat peanut butter sandwiches for every meal but not by choice

Theys ay it's all about portion control. So I had a little miso soup. A little salad with ginger dressing. A little pickled cabbage. A little steamed broccoli. A little bowl of rice with seasame seeds. A little beef pad thai. A little piece of cheesecake with a little bit of caramel drizzled over it. Oooof. I was a little stuffed. :rolleyes::laugh:

They do deep fry pizza. I have been there and seen it. They fold it in half like a panzarotti.

 

Then the wash it down with some deep fried hagis. :sick:

 

Then beer and scotch. I just stuck to that.

 

But their chocolate abosolutely rules!!!! :love::love:
