SunshineOnMe
Without getting too much into my problem, I'll give a brief overview. This school semester is going to be very difficult in the fact that I'm taking courses that are very difficult to me... Calculus. Math has never been my cup of tea and I worry. I'm only three weeks into school and I'm doubting my ability already. To be complete transparent with you guys, I used to cheat on nearly all math test. Now I'm in a situation where it's literally impossible to do. I'm not saying I want to if I could either. This is material that I want to learn and need to because my major involves it. The root of my stress I think is doubting that I can accomplish a good grade and more stressed about letting mom and dad down if I don't do well... I'm tired of living a mediocre life. Digger123
It will take you extra time to learn the material but you will be glad you did. Also don't stress so much about the grade. Rather the time and effort that you put into learning the material is what's important right now.
truthtripper
I also had to do calculus to pass my degree. It wasn't a strong point of mine either. Rather than struggling on my own, I asked a friend of a friend who was an engineering student if he could help me for a small fee. I did the exam ok. Perhaps you can ask a classmate who understands calculus, or go to a professional private tutor-you can't go wrong there. You can do it, Sunshine. Don't think you have to do everything on your own. Get the help you need and you'll be ok.
LostOnes05
Definitely suggest getting a tutor. Lots of times they have ways of learning the material that make more sense than the teacher's way. I had a math class where the textbook might as well have been in Russian. Going to the professor's office was useless because he was one of the authors of the book. So yea, get a tutor and don't feel self conscious about it.

What I marked out in the quote seems to be the actual issue. Why are you doing what you are doing? Are you doing it for them or because this is what you want? It seems you're doing it to please them, but this is your life and not theirs. If you don't go in it for yourself then you might as well quit and do what will bring you happiness in life. You should only have to worry about letting yourself down, the grade matters to you and your life. Your parents job is to support and care about your well-being, to be there when things go to hell and help you get back up in your endeavors in life. Do this for you, when in doubt do the best you can and learn along the way.
