Perhaps, but you aren't condemned to wearing the same pair of powder blue stretch pants for eternity. :lmao:

So I'm in a band, i see other band dudes, I go to tons of concerts,

whatever...and Yeah, it seems lately that Everyone and their Mom has

a Tattoo. I mean, EVERYONE. and tons of girls too. And there are some

HORRIBLE tattoos out there that people are getting, i gotta say. If I see

another Tribal Band or Barbed Wire or Nightmare Before Christmas

tattoo, i'm going to puke.

It's just become very Popular right now. I noticed it becoming a big deal

when bands like AT-The Drive In and "EMO" and "Punk" bands with tats

started getting popular, then every band dude i saw had Full Sleeves of

tattoos. It's A Trend right now. It's wild and crazy and something Radical

to do, but it's not really Rebellious anymore.

It's true, it's not RADICAL or REBELLIOUS anymore. It's almost cooler to NOT

get a tattoo and be "alternative", than it is to have tattoos. It's just gone WAYYY

overboard. Case In Point: Chris Carrabba from the band Dashboard Confessional. That dude

writes the sappiest Emo-Folk Love Songs, yet he walks around with Arms tattted up

like a Hell's Angel or something. He's supposed to be Tough?

In my opinion, it's cool if you want to get tattoos, but If you think you're getting it to be

different, think again. It's too played out. Stay original.

-or how bout that Travis Barker guy from Blink? He reminds me of a lizard with all his tats.

I have a blue sun with a star and moon in the middle of it on my lower back.

Actually, Charisma Carpenter (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) was my inspiration for my tattoo. Mine is the same size and shape as hers but different colors. I wish mine looked more like hers actually.

Like I said, I don't think it's "Un-cool" to get a tattoo.

It's just kinda silly in my opinion to get a Tattoo because it's "Trendy" or

to get something that someone else already has.

No Offense, XNemesisX. I know you designed your own tattoo but you did say

it's the same size and shape as Charisma's but different colors, but it

is also on the small of your back as well....A little too unoriginal.

I've wanted a tattoo ever since i was 17, seriously. I'm almost 30

now. It's just never been something that i've wanted to run out

and do just to prove something to everyone or to be accepted.

And since everyone's got one nowadays, it's kinda made me think twice,

thrice, four times about getting one. I'd kinda feel like a dork.

True. Then again, I notice you took care to profess that you got your tattoo before getting such tattoos became popular. Who got tattooed in a certain way before it was popular is not what is important. Who listened to a certain band before that band got on MTV or was played widely on the radio isn't important, either.

I don't think young people are getting tattoos to be different; I think young people get tattoos to fit in with what they see on television, and what they observe the other young people are doing. Everyone seems to have a tattoo, or have some piercings. I think I will continue to stay away from both practices.

I have seen a lot of women with the back tattoos. Soccer moms with lower back tattoos are becoming a very common sight these days.

The only truly original tattoo work I have ever seen was a portrait of someone's daughter across his back. From a distance, his daughter can be seen, but closer up one finds the image to be composed of skulls. To me, almost every other tattoo looks too similar to be original, or to have been designed by an individual.

True XNemesisX, True.

Everyone usually gets a Tattoo because they saw someone

else with a tattoo. I guess that's why there are so many of the same

tattoo out there.

Someone once said: Tattoos aren't Trendy, Trendy Tattoos are trendy.

So as long as you're doing it to represent something in your own

Unique way, I think that's great.

But FAUX is right, so much of what were seeing is Getting a Tattoo to Fit In

ESPECIALLY with the Kids. I go to concerts now and see all these little high schoolers

and it looks like a damn Hot Topic Fashion show, Tats and all.

Seems like it doesn;t matter what it is, they just get it tattoo'd on themselves.

Same with piercings, it's trendy to do it right now, if you don't have any, you're

a considered "un-cool".

Now when I was in Hawaii last, I saw a Samoan man who was tatooed according to tradition - he had a lot of tattooed skin space but the tattoos were patterns rather than pictures. It looked real nice, actually, but then I like geometric patterns :) Still, unless you're a genuine Samoan, it just doesn't look that great, IMHO.

What's in the tradition of having your lower back tattooed like that?!

(NTTAWWT)

I have my own ideas what they're for :lmao:

I call it a target. :lmao: Also, something to concentrate on to avoid cumming to fast (for my bf, ha ha ha).

My Daddy has a tattoo he got in Korea when he was drunk of a huge eagle with three stars over it's head. I wanted a tat when I was 16, Dad said to make sure it was something I would want on my bod until I died. SO I thought about it 3 years and finally got my 2 chinese imperial dragons in a yin yang clutching the pearl of enlightenment....

But my red tattoo I got for sentimental reasons, reminding me of my oldest sister. The kanjis mean peace, tranquility and forgiveness -- words I need to live by...

I consider tattoos to be like graffitti of the soul.

Target was one but not THE answer I was thinking of. It has something to do with sex though :)

I almost got one when I was in the Marines. If I get one, it will be of a phoenix rising from the ashes....it would symbolize me leaving my "nice guy" persona behind and stepping into the new me :)

Why Do People Get Tattoos of Japanese Lettering, When

they aren't even Japanese? I've always been curious

about that.

I was talking tattoos with a dude the other night at a rock club. He kept

bragging about how Tattoos are a rite of passage for a dude.

(i instantly got dumb chills)

He had a jacket on and I had never seen his tattoos and thought i'd quiz him and

asked : "okay ket me see, do you have a Skull tattoo?

He Replied - YES

I asked: "Do you have any Japanese lettering/imagery of any kind ?"

He Replied - YES

Then I asked: "Do you have any sort of dragon in an Asian Style?"

He replied: HELL YEAH

My biggest problem with tattoos is that so many people either get the

SAME DAMN THING or they get it in the SAME DAMN PLACE and we are

supposed to think they are "Spiritual" or "wild" because they have a tattoo.

How many more DRAGONS or IRISH HEARTS or CHINESE or JAPANESE Writing

or TRIBAL SUNS or MOONS or KOI FISH or SKULLS or HELLO KITTY or COBWEBS

AROUND THE ELBOWS or NIGHTMARE BEFORE XMAS tattoos do people have to get

before they realize, I'M JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!

My biggest problem is people who care so much about what other people do to THEIR OWN BODIES that it irritates them.

Dude, why do you even care what other people do to their bodies? Chose your battles. Get pissed off about something that actually MATTERS and affects YOU.

I'd been thinking about getting one for about three years by the time I actually did it. The interest, and the particular image, solidified shortly after my marriage fell apart. I dithered about it for a year and a half, and then finally did it about a month ago. Made sure the image I chose was something inspirational and hopefully timeless (it's a phoenix). A reminder that everything begins again, that we can heal from adversity and be reborn.

I thought I might regret it right afterwards but so far I haven't. Helped that I was also confronting a phobia (needles) when I had it done. Kind of empowering.

Oh, and lower back tattoos on women... love 'em.
