How much time should I spend on dating sites each day?

I'm on 3 sites now, and between responding to any messages and sending messages, it takes a really long time. And I also like to keep checking to see if I got any new messages. How long is normal to be on them each day?

They can be addictive.

Make sure you get all of your life things done: work/School, eating, doing laundry etc. Then work efficiently but don't let the sites consume you.

I spent ten minutes every morning. Give yourself a time limit, and you become very efficient at handling messages and interactions, setting up dates, etc. while staying organized.

There's no need to constantly check. No one will die if it takes you 12 hours to respond!

I know this is different for men and women. I’ve had some women tell me they receive as many as 30 (one lady claimed 80 after she initially posted her profile on a targeted “specialty” site where she was clearly one of the hottest and most sought after on this particular site.

What I do on any site I hide my profile and I only contact those I am actually and very interested in. They are going to be the only ones who sees my profile because I initiated contact.

I got tired of women who I absolutely was not interested in contacting me in addition clearly not reading my profile. But this meant I limited my time because I’m only getting messages from those I sought.

I did spend too much time online at one point and it started to drive me crazy and was a headache.

I know many women won’t (or usually don’t) initiate contact so they can’t hide their profiles if they want to be seen. But the time women must spend proofing profiles and messages is a full time job, you can lose yourself quickly.

The thing is too there are some crazy mentally ill people out there and if you are not returning messages in a “reasonable” time frame and that is subjective… folks lose their minds and take it personally.

Depends on the quality of your time and the quality of your interactions and how sincere you are about being on a site. Moderation is the key, don't become addicted or obsessed.

So is an hour a day too much?

Its your life, YOU tell US if its too much.

Personally? I'd rather spend an hour at a bar than an hour on a dating site. Might not meet anyone but at least its a good time.

Are there other things you'd rather do with that hour? or do you enjoy browsing the site and writing messages?

There's no one way of using a site. It's up to you to decide how much time to spend, but from my perspective, it seems highly inefficient. There were way better uses for that hour of my time.

Ten minutes of sorting online got me 6-8 first dates for each weekend and 1 date for each weekday night after phone screening. Most of my time was spent either on dates or on phone calls with guys from the dating site. The site is just there for an initial contact. There is no need to waste a lot of time messaging (or searching) on the site IMO.

Make contact if the guy looks promising, screen for deal breakers and fit, then meet.

As long as you're getting everything else done, then there is no limit.

But here's the thing. If you're on a dating site all day long, for a week or more and you aren't actually going on any dates.. you've got bigger problems than worrying about the amount of time you're spending on a dating site.
