E-Squared Posted February 28, 2016 Share Posted February 28, 2016 So I was told by a couple of female friends that referring to them as "honey" or "woman" as the female equivalent of saying "dude," "dog," "homie" or "man" is sexist. I mean it like when I say something, for example, like, "Dude, I know what you mean," or "Dog, you told me this." Now towards a couple of female friends, I have said something in the past like "Honey, you got it all wrong." I didn't call her honey because she is my girlfriend, by the way. I'm not a frat boy or thug. Since they know me well, they wouldn't call me any of those things. They can call me "brother" or "man" if they want. They can use "dude" if I'm being obtuse. Been called a lot worse things. Tell them they're lucky they don't live in a culture where women are often called much more vile things than honey. I agree with Grump, but its been my experience that good looking/desirable men can usually say these things and its no problem...If you aren't then its likely they will have an issue with it...Simple as that...
