mrs rubble
I just wanted to reach out to anyone who may be going through solo parenthood and separation... To say that it is well worth the struggle! My son's have had so much to deal with, really nasty stuff, and loads of obstacles on the way. They've both made my hair turn a little bit silver and made my heart miss a beat on more occasions than one. My eldest son was accused by my ex of some pretty hefty crimes (when he was 12 years old) and was investigated by the police and child services. He was found innocent and today has a university degree and his first job. He is an amazing role model to his brother. My youngest son went through physical and psychological abuse despite me trying to protect him- the courts didn't want to know! As a result he had trouble at school, socially and with the police. He was denied his right to an education because of his reputation. I've spent years trying to fight for him. He got himself into a hairdressing course last year and did really well but decided it wasn't what he wanted and felt he could do better. So he enrolled in a pre university entrance course- he's been there a week and has been put into a higher level already as he's had 100% results in everything. There were so many times I wanted to stop the struggle and give in. I'm so pleased that I didn't. These boy's are not only smart but empathetic, kind and strong. I only regret the pain they had to endure to get there. I just want to encourage others in similar situations to never give up!
