DreamP
It's never been a day for me. Used to just go out for breakfast (again, not my favorite thing to do). Now a days, kids make me breakfast. But I get NOTHING from my husband. One year I asked that he take care of the kids for 2 hours so I could manage me bills. Yeah, that didn't happen.
xxoo
My husband makes a fuss on Mother's Day. He orchestrates the kids bringing me breakfast in bed, usually buys me a new sundress (as Mother's Day is in May here), and enforces to the kids that this day is about me and makes them go wherever I want to go--which is usually on a family hike He makes dinner, too! Usually cooking out on the grill.
SJS
I honestly can't recall my husband getting me a gift for Mother's Day, from just him (I know when our child was a baby he'd sign the card from her, or make a photo collage, etc). He may make dinner or take me out but I think that's about the extent of it since our child entered school. I'm completely ok with this, since I'm not his mother. We have our anniversary to celebrate us.
ShatteredLady
This really reminds me of "love languages". If my H had ever made hand made gifts (cards, photo collage) & signed it from my babies I would be THRILLED! A hike in a sundress not so much. Hahaha! We all like & want different things. I guess it comes down to knowing that we are loved & special & KNOWN! Don't worry. I'm not going to share my Mothers Day d-day again. I NEVER want anything ever from my H on that day ever again. It's just about me & the kids. I bought myself little ornaments of a Mum with a little girl & one with a little boy. For me, from me. I'm dreading this year! (It's late in the USA)
dichotomy
My wife has certain things she likes - she also collects certain things. Each mothers day I seek out one of these special things she likes, a collectable or something and present it along with a full breakfast, flowers, and cards from the kids. Its also her day - so i do 100% of stuff around home, and she can relax or do what she wants.
TX-SC
We usually take her out for dinner. Maybe a gift too, but not always. Same for me on Father's Day.
