I've got another definition. Truth is a belief that is vindicated by an outcome that can't be manipulated and proves to be consistent with the belief.

There is no such thing.

There is little "t" truth, like "it is true that there is a moon" or "I got home at 11", but as far as capital "T" truth, no such thing.

Truth is determined by the individual. What is "true" for one person may not be "true" for someone else. In that sense, the word "truth" has no real meaning.

Truth is independent of perceptions. What we think of as truth may or may not have any relevance, but just thinking something is true does not make it so.

A man with cold hands puts his fingers into a bowl of room-temperature water. He says the water feels warm. A man with hot hands puts his fingers in the same bowl, and he says the water feels cold.

They're both telling the truth, but the temperature of the water hasn't changed.

So this self-focused stuff about truth being determined by individual experience, ones internal morality or, worse yet, by feelings, is completely and utterly nonsense.

If anyone is considering posting sort of speculation about whether a tree falling makes a sound if there's nobody there to hear it, just be warned....I have a gun, and my aim is true!

I have a gun, and my aim is true!

I will never be untrue.

"True sayings seem contradictory."

"True words do not sound beautiful;

beautiful sounding words are not true."

Both from the Tao te Ching.

Truth is... a small strand of silver that weaves between all people.

Fact is.. the hammer that smashes the strands that are weakest.

Truth is relative. It is based on a conceived set of values or principals that allows a person to make judgements or decisions to achieve or come to a final perspective that is seen as truth.

The interesting thing is that those sets of values and principals vary from person to person. At least, that's been my experience. Therefore, my truth is not the same as your truth.

I will now read the other posts :) I hate to be influenced before I type.

Truth ...well its hard because what 1 person might believe to be true another person might believe something else to be true so whos telling the truth??? maybe they both are as they are telling what they believe to be true.

Confusing isnt it.

Say i think that Football is boring thats my truth where as someone else will say its good and thats there truth but neither person is wrong really.
