Gluttony & Religion

lordy. it's reasons like this that i will never allow an animal in my home. (well that and the fact that i used to love animals until my roommates ruined for me completely. pigs---the roommates, not the pets.)

is it worth it? really?

Hah! Some days it's hard. Some days I just don't want to get up and do it all, but I adore those cats. When Libby comes up to me at night and presses her head against my lips so I can give her 'mommy kisses' it's the sweetest thing. She closes her eyes and purrs and is so blissfully happy it makes it all worth it.

When Ariel comes up on my chest/shoulder and wants me to cradle her just like a little baby and she stretches out so that I can give her soft tickles all up and down her body, she makes sweet little squeaks which means she's happy. She stares at my face, just watches me for hours as I pet her and those moments make it all worth it.

When Merlin stretches out really far so I can scratch his tummy and he starts making his happy noises and starts chatting with me non-stop. He tells me so many things about the day, we talk about his favorite stories, he rats on his sisters and complains about how they always take the comfey spot on the couch. Then he sticks his little forehead up so he can also get 'mommy kisses' like I give Ariel and Libby and that makes it all worth it.

I look at those cats and can't imagine seeing anything more beautiful in my entire life. It's worth it - they are my life.

awwwww. and see, while that sounds so sweet and everything, animals just make me ill.

however, my roommates cat was unloved and filthy, and the dog was too big for the house and just in the way. i dont know why people who have ZERO time for animals insist on having them. it's her fault more than the animals, but it still soured the whole experience for me.

i always wanted a puppy my whole life. i had a horse growing up. now, i can never imagine it again.

yeah, it was really bad.

my horse was not fat.

Haha - now that would be quite a coincidence, wouldn't it. :p

Puppies are a lot more work. I love puppies, but my cats are about all I can handle. Any more animals to give my attention to and I'd have no time for sleeping!

You know, I've never seen a fat horse.

i don't think i have either...but i think i did see a rather obese pony... his growth was stunted, while his appetite was not.

now that i think of it, i think it was one of those miniature horse dealies that i am semi--afraid of.

maybe that's why some people look like their dogs...they are eventually reunited after separation upon...hatching...

hmmm.

but there were beasts mentioned in the first post, so it should have been okay....maybe we better make it an "all about dogs" thread....

and in keeping with the theme of obese people, i always call "what's eating gilbert grape" "who ate gilbert's grape."

i never get it right. but his mother severely overweight. it was pretty bad.

Gluttony is directly related to religion???

Yup. One of the Seven Deadly Sins: Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Anger, Greed

As opposed to the Seven Heavenly Virtues: Prudence, Temperance, Justice, Fortitude, Charity, Hope, Faith

Lol...pulled a pocky.

Okay. Gluttony isn't ONLY related to religion. You can over-eat on some idle Tuesday in the dine-in section of the Golden Dragon Chinese Buffet, not be religious and still be guilty of gluttony.

You can drink too much. I'm assuming alcoholism is a gluttony too.

But it IS against my religion. Hence the thread.
